Not too "manly", is it??? :(

  2. The way I heard it, was in 2012 there will be the highest recorded sunspots ever, giving rise to heavy EMP bursts similar to what caused the brown-out over the Eastern US a couple of years ago but much bigger and over a prolonged period. Electronic relays in the power grid were the culprits of that brown out. Imagine that on a bigger scale. Unprotected Computer systems wiped out could bring half the world to a standstill. No electricity means no gas, no water and no petrol. Follow that train of thought to its logical conclusion. The UK government has allocated a lot of money into protec
  3. One of the parting comments from the "Effect Measure" blog now that the pandemic has passed asked what we had learned from the Swine Flu outbreaks. "we learned all preventive measures including the hand-washing techniques, anti-flu drugs, staying home when sick, and modern heath care could not prevent the US (with about 300 million people) from suffering the most of this modern day pandemic (at least 50 million people presumed to have been infected and at least 12,000 lives lost). With about 100 million people in Mexico, it has only reported an estimated 1208 deaths and Canada with about 33 m

  6. OK, now I have to unveil my secret weapon that ensures you won't be shooting back
  7. As a newly wed, DW asked me to put the chip pan on the lighted stove. Dutiful new husband obliges, not realizing she keeps it on a plastic mat in the cupboard to avoid marking the shelf which of course stuck to the bottom of the pan and set fire to the stove as it melted. I've not been allowed back in the kitchen in 25 years. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

    NO Power!

It's one of the things I love about these forums. The personal experiences of people who are already somewhat prepared and then when the S really does HTF, even in a small or temporary way, it's the bits that you never thought of that come out, and we all learn from that. And from Buttercup, most of all in this stressing time - a positive attitude to it all. "The Buttercup Chronicles" Yes pleeeease.

    New here!

Hi Amanda, welcome to the fun house. Now Yorkshire has 2 representatives in the forum.
  17. I'll jump into this before someone gets hurt. I don't know the actual formula/quantities just that you don't add one into the other or you get toxic fumes. Bleach is a non active cleaner and vinegar is the acid (acetic)that activates it making it deadly to all germs. Pour bleach into water and then pour vinegar into the water. That's about it
  19. My youngest is now 10 and was diagnosed autistic very early. The file I accumulated over about 5 years was loaned out a few years ago and never returned. It was passed on and on. It contained every bit of research and all articles available at that time, some were quite experimental. Our advice at that time was to get the child off bread and milk 'til the stomach lining heals and minimise the damage caused. IMHO the MMR does not cause the damage, it only sensitizes the stomach lining allowing damaging chemicals from food (bread & milk in particular) to have the effect it does.
  20. A very interesting read from National Geographic about the spread of some viruses and the reasons. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/2007...ammen-text.html
  21. Thank you all very much for your birthday wishes. Smowmum - where do you get all the pretty pictures I need some for my charitys website to liven it up for Christmas
  22. Welcome SE, Wow, another guy! Only need a few thousand more and we can get Da Boss to rename the site to MS Survival LOL (Don't beat me up Dar)
  23. Something to consider..... If TSHTF my lifestyle will probably alter quite radically and calories won't be something I'll eed to count. With all the extra walking I'll be doing my other meds could eventually become superfluous anyway. I know this won't apply to all meds but.... What do you think?
  24. I spent 3 years working on the cruise ships as a casino manager. Did you know they serve ELEVEN meals a day. Starting with early risers tea and biscuits right through to midnight buffet and even pizza served in the disco. You could get extremely biiigggg. And of course the booze is cheap being duty free which adds to the calories.
