  1. Abby-girl is aging gracefully.  A bit slow getting up, but vet gives her a pretty good bill of health.  She's seeing, peeing, pooping, eating and drinking...weight stable...pretty good for 11 years old!

We have gotten debt free...feels so gooood! Still have 2 houses to get sold, but it will come.  We're trying to "smell the roses" as we go on with life.  This world is so full of instability.  We enjoy our church get together's on Sunday mornings.  Only a handful of us, but ... where 2 or 3 are gathered together! I'm very healthy, only needing thyroid meds and hubby's stabilized.  He's losing weight ... and I think I'm trying to find it!  Started taking a bit of Apple Cider Vinegar to help.

  2. Laser surgery on right eye went very well.  Had to use the drops like I had to for the left eye, and Wednesday was the last day for that.  I go tomorrow for my follow up.  I am seeing great!  They call these "recurring cataracts" and said it happens to about 30% of cataract surgeries.  Aint it nice ta know you're in the 30%?  Anyway...I am 20/23 on the left and probably 20/20 in the right.

    SORE BODY CLUB

Seems it's going around?  I tripped over the leg of our Inversion Table (trying to climb around it...dummm) and went right hip hard to the floor, then face first/right side to the hardwood floor.  Hubby came running, scooped me up and then I grabbed a package of shredded cheese from the freezer, put it on my eye and cheek bone...and hubby brought be a mega dose of Aleve...and sat in my recliner to settle down.  Other than being sore and bruised I am fine.  No broken bones Praise The Lord!

  4. Gearing up to get somewhat caught up...the Laser surgery went awesome!  Sight restored to it's original vision after the cataract surgery  20/30.  Do have problems keeping   my right eye (dominant eye) from taking over! LOL   They will do the right eye in March.  So funny...not painful at all, just weird!  He said "I'm going to be shooting holes through all that "scum"...and so it was ping, ping, ping about 20+ times.  Had to think of lids sealing! LOL  Post op is the 24th for this eye.

One of the vision tests that they always do, used to have a house that you focused on...this time it was a BALLOON!  Talk about me chuckling!

Yesterday was a happy day for me and Abby-girl.  I sang and danced because I could see so much better and she just got happy because momma was happy, and when I sang scriptures, she stood watching me and wagging her butt! As for Bootsy the cat that adopted us...he's spoiled too!  Came to us a squawling, skinny youngster...now he rules the neighborhood!  Can't bring him inside.  Me and cat dander don't mix!  Plus...he doesn't get along with Abby.  Hubby built him a very well insulated house on our covered front porch, which he loves...but is terrible at keeping house.  He pushes out the straw and then leavesw it!

  5. Making a quick stop in to let you know we are up to our ears in "{stuff".  I will be going in on the 13th for some Laser surgery to my eyes.  After the cararact surgery, they tell me "sometimes" little pockets form behind the retina that fill with fluid and your vision begins to decline.  Guess who this has happened toQ  They will go in with a Laswe and puncture it and drain it.  Vision will return.  After the initial surgery I had 20/20 in the right, 20/30 in the left.  When I went to get my drivers license renewed I couldn't pass the eye test!  Spo I went to the eye dr., thinking I needed glasses.  But no, it was these little pockets!  So if you notice spelling errors it is because pc screens are almost impossible for me to view.  After this surgery my vision should be back to it's normal state.

Next, our city code enforcement officers decided to weaponize thie office and come after us for
trash" (hubby's collection of recycled metals etc) and got the police to issue a violation so we had to go to court and pay a fine of !00 for each of us, because we both own the house.  Then they came again and said we didn't have enough gravel on our driveways and parking areeas!  So we had to buy gravel and he spread it by shovel ful, load after load, from a little trailer we borrowed.  He has since recycled all of the stuff (from our bsmt) and had enough to buy him his own utility trailer (and return the borrowed one).  Needless to say all work on the other two properties is at a standstill!

Abby girl is aging but still my baby.  She needs more mommy attention...so I give it freely.  We also got adopted by a ferral kitty.  He came this past spring skinny and meowing.  We set some food out on the sidewalk and he'd eat but wouldn't let us near him.  After about a week, we moved the food to the porch step, but he still wouldn't let us near.  Nest we moved the food to a table on the porch, and he began to let let us pet him.  Now...he's spoiled rotten!  Hubby built him an insulated "cat house" and put straw inside...he's quite comfy! LOL  He and Abby don't get along and I'm allergic to cat dander so outside is a must.  He's "in tact" so he'll just have to stay that way in order for him to stay free ranging/.  Just the way it has to be for him to survive.

My son is hanging in there.  Battles health issues galore but that's the best he can do.  Obesity, PTSD, Diabetes, Congestive Heart issues...yes...he took the jab and is paying the price...day by day.

The weather is crazy here, never know if it's spring or winter!

We keep the night temp at 65 and 70 at day and just dress worm.  Our utilities have doubled...like everything else.  We continue to shop Mennonite and keep the pantry stocked up

So...that's pretty much the update and an explanation of where I have been.  Blessings to all and prayers always welcome!

  6. Still working to get stuff sorted out, pitched and moved here.  Hubby's still working pretty much full time at the trailer park, so he does what he can here or I do it.  Chasing the dollar while we still can.  The little place is still sitting there and we had a guy call about buying it.  We decided to sell both of the other places as is, and are working towards that goal.  Abby-girl is doing "ok"...but is really showing her age.  We did get adopted by a cat...he was somewhat feral and came meowing at us when it was so bitterly cold, about 2 months ago.  We set food out for him...a can of tuna.  So we went to the store and bought some cat food and fed him on the front porch.  Was not too long before he became "our cat".  We call him Bootsy.  He is a very dark tiger strip with 4 white feet and a white chest.  When I get up he is usuallu at the front door waiting to be fed.  I feed him 2x a day but sometimes have to stand guard while he eats because of 2 other ferals.  He would love to come inside but I can have inside cata...allergies etc....not to mention Abby!

Haven't been doing any canning, ust freezer banking when food comes on sale, to re-stock what we have used from our pantry.

I will be calling my eye doctor this month.  The cataract surgery isn't working as well as it was.  The 20/20 eye does pretty good but but the 20/30 eye is not.

I know I'll need glasses for bifocals, but may need prism on that left one.  Well these eyes are getting tired of staring at this little screen on our office pc, so I'll sign off.  Hopefully everybody has a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We did, very quietly right here.

    make biscuits

I've found a 2 ingredient mix that works great for me.  1 cup of self rising flour and one cup of heavy cream.  Dump out on a floured surface and knead, adding more self rising flour if needed.  When dough becomes soft and pliable, roll out and cut.  400 degree oven for about 12 minutes. Might give it a try?

  8. Stopping by to say hello.  We are up to our necks in projects, not counting some container gardening.  Bush beans have blossoms, acorn squash looking good, speghetti squash looking good, but yellow nwck nor zucc's even came up!  Kale just seems to be stalled and chard didn't survivw the grasshoppers!

We replanted lots of stuff, plan to use Abby's old kennel as a green house.  Okra and turnips looking good too.

Elderberries producing good.  Freezing them in paper bags and will give them a shake when I am ready to process.

Hubby's still working pretty much full time...but we've made some decisions about the other two properties that will free finances up big time!  As I told him...yes...told him, I don't want any property buut the homestead!

If you find typo's etc., please ignore.  I am having to use our LR pc because I cannot see the screen on his desk. Our Abby girl is truly aging, and we are a bit sad.  She sees, hears, peas and poops, eats and drinks but her but is so skinny.  We cannot seem to keep any weight on her.  She can hardly walk across the floor without panting.  We had to put down runner rugs on all the hardwood floors because she slipped and fell and now freezes when she gets on the hardwoods.

Take care friends and know that I am not totally gone...LOL  Gonna post a couple of pics for your entertainment!  We helped celebrate my sisters 55th ... and of course...our Abby girl!

  9. Been VERY busy around the homestead.  Hubby is working pretty much full time for our pastor (who manages a trailer park) but it may slow down pretty soon. Been stocking up big time by shopping Amish and putting things up.  Got two nice pineapples so I sliced one into chunks for immediate eating (with yogurt) and the other in slices and in the freezer.  Somebody in this household loves pineapple upside down cake...:happy0203:

Got the kitchen floor swept and mopped as well as a quick dust mop in the bedroom.  Made a trip to our favorite seed store and picked up some seeds and a huge sleeve of canning lids.  costly but a must have while I can get more.  Bought some small Merigolds plants and have been fighting the birds to keep them off the blooms!  Finally put them on a rack on the front porch with vcr tape strands waving them off! LOL

Been spoiling my Abby girl all to pieces.  She hasn't been well.  Guess her food wasn't giving her the nutrition she needed so I've been supplementing her diet.  She was getting so boney.  I could feel her back bone and ribs.  Have my huge grieving process to get myself stabilized.  She's 10 1/2 now.

Haven't plant anything of substance yet.  Was too cold...then too rainy and now it's very hot!

Well I gotta go. He's home and hot and will want supper before long.  :hi:

  10. We are hunkering down...again.  Another snow storm headed our way.  Got all the laundrt done, folded and put away.  Floors taken care if.  Truck backed in for easier access out.  Yesterday we went Mennonite shopping.  Needed to pick up a bag og taters to jar up.  It's that time.  Also picked up some fresh but frozen berries to jar up later.  We enjoy our berry desserts! LOL

Will share with you all...if you enjoy rolled oats.  I soak them with raisins for a bit.  Then I add 2 Tablespoons of real pumpkin, some honey, some cinnamon, and a bit of Almond milk  Wow...what a tasty way to eat our oats!

  11. It's been a rough 10 days for me and my son.  He ended up in hospital with diabetic keto acidosis and a host of other near fatal issues.  With lots of prayer from a few of my selected partners, he went home today.  He's had a MAJOR life event and life changing.  He was so messed up on his various meds, and a quack of a doctor at a free clinic.  They said he was being over medicated and have changed all his meds and called in a diatician to come to his apartment and freezer bank the kinds of foods he needs to be eating.  They also told him he was mis-managing his insulin intake.  Told him to take his read and that would determine the kind of foods to eat.  Then take it again to see what amount of insulin he should be taking, then again afterwards to see if things were where they should be. He also went to a local place to get his seasonal flu shot...guess what they gave him without telling him?  Yep...he had no idea until he got a notice that it was time for his booster. Criminal as far as I am concerned!  He's coming over tomorrow for me to cut his hair, but we'll both mask up and I'll wear gloves.  He did shave his beard off a couple of weeks ago and is now tired of the matted stringy 6 inch hair and he's bald on top!  So he wants me to get my clippers out and give him a buzz.  He'll be glad, because it will be so much easier for him to kep himself clean.  I'm sure they told him all this too.  The occupational therapist came in and worked with him to tell him he can't set in front of a tv or computer all day.

  12. This is what got dumped on us.  It's somewhat melted off now that the weather has risen to the 50's during the day.  We didn't even try to get out.  Hubby shoveled us out afer aboyut 4 days, so he could get out in an emergency.  The city won't put down salt because it degrades the roads.   We got a total of about 10 inches during the 3 days.
