  1. Our red raspberries are just starting but it’s pretty dry here so very few. Already missed the mulberries and the wild raspberries that are close to the house. They were very small, dry and dropped early. I see the birds being only mildly interested. Strange year here.
  2. Becca, it is so hard not being with them. I have grands and great grands (like 38? Some) scattered all over the US and Facebook picts and videos has been my heart ache saver. Just having that random picture pop up on FB makes my day. Not quite the same as snuggles but it helps.
  3. Happy birthday. I hope all your wishes for the day come true! 🍸🍾
  4. This is pretty much how I cook and always have cooked. I enjoy the challenge of ‘using up’ leftovers in recipes or as Euphrasyne said, we use them as free choice ‘buffet’ meal portions. Or we have them for breakfast or brunch. Most meals I still cook in the quantities I did when the kids were all home. I just freeze the extra in meal sized portions to have later. It cuts down considerably the hours spent in the kitchen and on the clean up. Not having chickens now and with eggs being so pricey I don’t use as many as she does. I have been doing a lot of non egg recipes. I also cook gluten free. Not having chickens or dogs and only two feral cats I use scraps in different ways than I used to. Peelings and bones are saved in the freezer until I have enough to make batches of broth and I use the root ends as starts to plants all year instead of just in the winter as in the past. My left over cooked peelings after making vegetable broth are put into the compost and the leftover bones are fed to the cats or dried to powder for bone broth. I really enjoyed her video. Someone after my own style!
  5. I’m sorry you all had to go through that difficult time but that little cutie is so worth it. Congratulations to you ALL!

  8. When we moved our antique secretary we were told to fill the shelves inside the glass door with pillows to stabilize the glass. Then we wrapped it like you said. It moved twice that way with no problems. Might be worth a try with your bookcase.
  9. I don’t use feta but I have used other cheese to fill dumplings and use them in various ways. My favorite is with a fruit sauce more as a desert. I drop them onto the top of simmering sauce, cover them with a lid and boil them for ten +/- minutes and then continue to simmer uncovered for another ten +/- minutes to dry them somewhat so not soggy. I use them in a similar way on soups and stews.
  10. Happy belated birthday. I hope your day was super.
  11. Wishing all a very happy Mother’s Day. 🌹 Be sure to celebrate mother’s everywhere.
  12. Mt_Rider, I had the exact same scam as your mom only it was supposedly my grandson, my oldest grandson, but then they had names and addresses of a LOT of family members and it changed to my oldest son. They even went so far as supposedly putting a police officer on and giving me not only case numbers but also the number of a supposed legal aid person. THEN, that legal aid person even called me. He sounded suspiciously like the supposed grandson/son who needed money. I called my son just to make sure it was a scam but I knew it was. For one reason our son would NOT need legal aid. On his suggestion I called the local sheriff’s office and found that this was a scam they hadn’t heard about and we’re glad to know so they could reassure others. There is absolutely nothing they could do about it though they did take the phone numbers I had to try to see if they could get them through that. Most scammers, like the Medicare ones that I get sometimes two or three a day, use random computer collected phone numbers to cal people and there is no way to catch them. Another elaborate scam I turned in was a supposed investment firm, a real one no less, who tried to convince me that someone had left me a maturing trust fund for $320,000. They again had all sorts of addresses and info that I’m sure they garnered on the web. I was smart enough to give the person the phone number and address of our lawyer whom I said did all our financial work. Unsurprisingly , they never contacted him. I actually looked up and called the investment firm, a well known big one in CA.,and found they were trying to find these people themselves but were having little luck. They were grateful for all the info I had. The police told me the best we could do was to warn as many of our family and friends, especially us elder ones, about the scams so they don’t fall for it. Mt R you might want to tell your mom to have your brother’s phone number right on the phone to give to these people. They won’t call it but it will help your Mom’s worry. Personally I normally enjoy messing with ‘oldest grandson’ caller. I ask them their name as if I’m a bit senile and then tell the whopping stories of having dozens of grands (which I actually do but I don’t tell them the real number) and start berating them for not coming to visit and why I haven’t received the last check from him for the last time he called for money. When I start going on about him bringing me donuts or something similar on Friday he usually hangs up. (An old lady needs SOME fun, don’t you know! )
  13. Happy belated birthday MomM. I hope you had a super day. Why not celebrate again today and enjoy the extra fun without the extra years.
  14. Wow, just rushing in for the party. Happy birthday, Darlene. I hope your day was super special.
  15. Happy birthday, Midnight. I hope your day was filled with all the things that make you happy.
  16. I would probably do the same thing, rinse WELL and repack. If you could see some of the conditions at meat packing places you might be shocked.
  17. MM, what do the prices reflect? The one time cost to join the plan? Yearly fee? Hopefully not monthly!!!
  18. Everyone! I’ve got some banana oatmeal cookies I’ll share. I’m definitely in for a cup of tea and a chat. It’s chilly today so that tea will hit the spot. We had snow the other day but DH is getting the lawn mower ready so spring must be here. The pear trees are blooming beautifully and the apple tree will soon be. Our rivers and tributaries are all flooding but we are far enough away not to get water. Could close a few roads but we have no where to go any time soon. Yep, it’s spring time in northern Illinois.
  19. We have a smart meter that was installed a year or so ago. It eliminated the mender readers for one thing. I don’t believe we signed up for anything but I will admit our electric bill has been lower since then. Lots lower. Unfortunately, Little Sister, they can monitor your usage and cut you off or control your electricity even without a smart meter. That is all done within the company.
  20. Oh no, Jeepers. You do not need more stress, physical or otherwise. Please, try not to get sick again. (((((((Jeepers)))))))
  21. Why yes, I have. It works quite well to make tomato sauce and many other things beside. So glad you found it too.
