  1. I followed the instructions in one of my Preserving books for dehydrating Broccoli. I will have to wait until I get home to tell you which one. Anyway, I washed/rinsed and chopped my broccoli into around 1" florets with no more than a 1/2 inch stem and dehydrated them over night @ 125* degrees in my Excalibur. They were bright green, crispy, and delicious "raw". I didn't have the heart to crush them in a vacuumed food saver bag, so I put them in a wide mouth quart Ball Jar and used the vacuum attachment to seal the lid on with an O2 absorber tossed in. Let us know how it goes for you!
  2. Bought your book on Kindle! I am just 4 chapters into it, and I am identifying with this character very much. Glad to "know" you !
  3. Loving your drawing, Annarchy! In between all this moving to the Ozarks I have been keeping up with your Wagon's Ho drama! It's funny, because when DBF and I were lined up on the road after dropping off our apartment keys and finally heading out of Texas, he yelled "Wagon's Ho!" at me, because I have been keeping him abreast of your story... You all will be missed this week!!! I just about has a panic attack knowing that Mt. Rider was carrying that little .22 handgun at dark...so now I'm off to investigate sidearms again...I have been sort of wishing for this little (VERY light) 357 Hammerless revolver...it only takes 60 days of residence to be able to purchase a gun in AR, and 90 days for concealed carry... Have a Blessed Thanksgiving, all !!!
  4. I am absolutely loving this journey y'all are on! I check the threads almost every day...lol... One thing I became obsessed over was the "Fireless Cooker"...I had never heard of that! Of course online there are a bunch of vague instructions on how to make one, or the occasional tin box antique version. But I also found this: https://www.dreampot.com.au/ So there you go, people...another item I "just can't live without" in my preps!!! Also, whenever everyone was sick with flu, and quarantined, I was stressing out over you guys having enough bandannas to cover your faces and keep from breathing all that trail dust when your little lungs were already working overtime... Yes, you are in my prayers even on your virtual journey! Ok, back to packing up the house...I have my own journey to Arkansas tomorrow!!!
  5. Here's what I made for the roommates tonight: TVP Sloppy Joes (serves 8-10) 2 Bell Peppers 2 Med Onions 1 ½ Cups Boiling Water 2 ½ Cups Tomato Sauce ½ quart jar of marinara 1 ½ Cups TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) 2 T Mustard 2 tsp Chili Powder ½ tsp NaCl 1 T Tamari or Braggs or Soy Sauce ½ tsp pepper 1 tsp sugar 1. Sauté onions and peppers. 2. Add remaining ingredients and stir. 3. Cook on Med for 20 mins. 4. Serve over toast, English muffins, or rice. You can swap out the water and TVP and just put in 2 pints of ground beef from your pantry! This is soooooo good y'all!!! I served it on home made Onion/Garlic/Rosemary hamburger rolls w/ potato salad and relish...
