  1. HOT, HOT, HOT...and getting HOTTER!
  2. I was assuming green, but black olives also have a very high salt content in the brine.
  3. Jo's missing. Her posts are gone like Nana's, Westie's, Darlene's.... Can she log on? Pixie??
  4. I put in the mo/day and left the year blank. It put it in my profile ok. Will have to wait 8 mo and 5 days to see if it comes up on the forum.
  5. This is the only post that I can help 'fix'. Westie posted some wonderful radish recipes, I copied them and e-mailed them to my mom. So I just copied them from my sent folder. RADISH RELISH 1 pound radishes ½ pound celery stalks 1 cup sweet onions 2 hot red peppers 1 cup sugar 1 tablespoon mustard seed 2 teaspoons salt 1½ teaspoons dill seed Vinegar to cover Grind radishes, celery and onion coarsely. 8. Ok-I'm gonna disagree and say you can can olives in a water bath. Like sauerkraut-if they have enough salt content. My recipe says 1 1/2 Tablespoons per 1 quart of water. Or you could do them like pickles and use any sweet pickle or dill pickle recipe brine. I think this is a very interesting idea. Especially if you could get your hands on fresh raw olives. Otherwise I'd think you could re-can them in the same brine that they come in with a hot water bath.
  9. Necie here-aka Brightblessing. Actually, Brightblessing hasn't posted today. Her last post was 7/1, and her aka username is Jeanettecentaur, and don't ask me how I figured that out.
  10. And the story continues tragically onward...... Scary and sad for the family..... 1 hour, 8 minutes ago A third child from the same family died of bird flu in a Turkish hospital on Friday, the third human fatality outside China and Southeast Asia. Hulya Kocyigit, 11, was the sister of Mehmet Ali, 14, who died last weekend, and of Fatma, 15, who died on Thursday. The children lived in a remote rural district of eastern Turkey near the Armenian border. A six-year-old brother is also being treated for the same disease in the hospital. Huseyin Avni Sahin, the he
  11. Thanks all for the warm welcomes...... Keep track of this story it appears more are infected in Turkey. The transmission appears to be B2H, not H2H but it still is distressing: http://www.recombinomics.com/News/0..._Turkey_26.html Twenty Six Suspected Bird Flu Patients Hospitalized in Turkey? Recombinomics Commentary January 5, 2006 Five additional patients, also with flu-like symptoms, have been hospitalized in Erzurum The above comments suggest that the number of patients hospitalized in Turkey has grown to 26 and come from four provinces. 12. Seems kinda ominous Second Turkish child dies from bird flu Thu Jan 5, 2006 1:38 AM ET ISTANBUL (Reuters) - A second Turkish child from the same family died from bird flu on Thursday at a hospital in eastern Turkey where she was being treated, a regional governor said. Her brother, 14-year-old Mehmet Ali Kocyigit, had already died of the H5N1 strain of bird flu, officials said on Wednesday, confirming the first human death from the disease outside China and southeast Asia.
