Are any of you seeing a shortage of canning supplies this year? DH wanted wide mouth canning jars last week at Walmart, while he shopped I went to grab him a case. I was surprised to see the shelves empty. I had thought by this time, the shelves would be well stocked. Luckily, Dollar General had a good supply of canning jars for this year.

Argh, another supplier is gone. Looking for glass top canning jars, the ones that use the rubber rings and clamp, with handles. We were getting the Ball 'Ideal' ones. "1908 patent"... We use them, with the handles, for olive oil candles/lanterns. A SHTF shelf item. Anyone have a supplier? Sarah

My mom passed away in February. I am cleaning out her enormous house. She was a champion prepper. I spent nearly three days just emptying and washing canning jars and gallon storage jars. We have tons of fabric for clothes and quilting, sewing machines, patterns, canning supplies including pressure canners, prepper type books (do it yourself, cookbooks, gardening, etc.), yard tools, a hydraulic wood splitter, small garden tractor and attachments (tractor has been sitting and needs work), big tiller, and just about anything you can think of for preparedness. I will have a more detailed list soon. If you happen to be in Arizona, this is a golden opportunity to acquire some of these items. Let me know if you are in the market for any of these items.

I made some spagetti sauce and wanted to freeze it. In the past I've tried freezer bags, and even the plastic freezer jars along with a few other plastic containers that said for freezing on them. I have had issues with all of them in the past, and was wondering if it is safe to freeze in the glass canning jars. And if so, how much space should I leave at the top in the quart jars?
