What is a Pandemic- (In this case Influenza) Explination of past pandemics and facts about 1918. a. Bird flu- what it is, where is it and how is it spread. b. Types of flu, and history of animal to human transmission. c. How does Influenza mutate? Why be worried? d. Human to Human transmisson (Type A flu, explination of the fact that all type A flu came from birds) e. Avian Influenza- projected death rates in a pandemic i. Gov’t plan for the avian flu ii. Know what your state and local gov’t has planned. Your local area will be responsible for itself! 2. Why should you prepare? 3. Educating yourself a. Internet resources b. Books 4. Staying healthy a. Sleep b. Good nutrition c. Basic hygine 5. What do I need to do? a. Water b. Food c. First Aid d. Masks i. types of masks ii. how many to purchase e. Shelter in Place- Long term isolation/quarantine f. Sick room g. Disinfecting surfaces h. Medicine i. antivirals ii. Sambuccol iii. Homemade elderberry tincture iv.
