Lilly
Are any of you reading A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle? My frined and I were going to read it and take the online class. But after looking at the material we realized it was new age and decided not to do it. But I read the message boards yesterday and I could not believe what some people are writing. One person wrote they were proud to go to hell with Oprah. Another even more new age book she is recommending is A Course in Miracles by Marianne Williamson. I just don't get why people think they need to add anything to The Bible. Oprah claims to be a Chritian. I respect her for all the good things she does, but I feel she is leading people in the wrong direction. The last I heard over one and a half million people had listened to her online class. Here is just some of what this book teaches. http://benwitherington.blogspot.com/2008/0...ion-course.html There are people who are being led astray, that were not brought up in church and don't know any better. What do you think? Link to comment
Momo
I am probably in the minority but I seldom watch Oprah. I just feel like she is too wrapped up in the celebrity game. I am sure she has some good shows, but you have to wade through alot of garbage to get to it. From what I have heard she focuses too much on the New Age stuff. I also don't like her endorsing specific candidates. Link to comment
Pastors wife
Some of that "New Age" stuff she pushes, tells us that we as a people have to be as one if we are going to find world peace. If someone won't join them, then they would have to be done away with, so they could come back knowing that we must be one. They use the word atonement~at "one" ment. Their God is not the God of the Bible. Link to comment
Dee
I feel alot like you do about Oprah Momo. Years ago I liked her entertaining shows but somewhere along the line she became too "righteous" for me. I watch TV mostly for entertainment, NOT for people to tell me how to live and vote. I'm not against her for those of you that enjoy her shows. I guess it's just I'm past the looking inside myself and have accepted me for what I am, an older woman, accepting of my good points as well as my faults, coping in a changing world. Link to comment
HSmom
I don't watch Oprah myself, but I am concerned about the numbers of American women who willingly submit themselves to Oprah's will and opinions. Certainly, they are free to believe what they want, but it seems that some of them don't want to think about what they should believe - they just go with what Oprah says. Obviously, you Lilly, are not one of those people. I think you can still certainly enjoy her show and think for yourself...just some people don't want to. Link to comment
Lilly
I enjoy her shows with Dr. Oz, and also her shows on decorating and stuff like that. I don't care for the new age, celebrity shows. She is making people rich selling this new age stuff like The Secret, and these other two books. Anything she touches turns to gold. I am just worried about people who don't know any better. And I hate the way people want to label Christians as self rightous and zealots. Yes I love the Lord, and I want everyone to have what I have. I don't think that makes me a zealot. Link to comment

What do you think? I think she is simply another false prophet(ess?) and those who follow her will receive the reward that was promised........... Sad to think she's from my home state, not a good representative. Link to comment
JCK88
I stopped paying attention to Oprah years ago when her magazine came out and EVERY month has her picture on the cover. It's annoying, really that she's that self centered. Link to comment
BiscuitMaker
I think this boils down to one thing and that is worshiping a celebrity. I don't understand this!!! I would not take her advice on what car to drive, so why would I take her advice on anything as important as my soul. I have always thought she was a good person and probably still is, however I think evil uses these people to their good. I truly doubt she knows what is happening to her, but she should. Ginger
To each their own. I've never been good at following the popular path no matter how impressive it may appear to be. From the comments shared on this thread, it's good to know that I am not alone in being wary of a watered down and twisted gospel that Oprah is promoting in a huge way as only she can. I pray to be harmless as a dove and wise as serpent concerning movements such as these. With that said, I wouldn't turn down a brand new car if Oprah was giving them away in my neck of the woods. Snowmom
I haven't watched her in a while. I use to record her program every day and watch it when I had a chance. Not any more. I too, liked watching when Dr. Oz was on, but, she is just going way to far, by the endorsing of the political candidate. I don't care who it is, she is wrong in doing it and then campaigning. A lot of celebrities endorce them, but don't go around campaigning for them. Yes, Oprah has done a lot of good, and probably will continue to do so, but I have lost my respect for her. But, Like Ginger, if she were to give me a new motor home, I would not turn it down. Ginger said car, but I want a motor home. So many people claim to be a Christian, but, you can tell one by the way they walk. Link to comment
