Stephanie
Hi there! Our pool is open and we're swimming most days. I wondered if any of you are doing aquatic exercise and if you have a system for calculating the calories burned? I found this good slide show from Mayo Clinic, I'm trying to do some of these exercises. I'm able to do much more in the pool than out, but I just don't know how to "measure" it. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/aquatic-exercise/SM00055 Link to comment
Momo
I don't know how to figure swimming in miles. You have reminded me that I need to start my swimming program. I got my new bathing suit last week. (That was my last excuse to not exercise!) For folks who are not healthy enough for regular exercise, pool exercise is much safer and a great start to a fitness program. Link to comment
Stephanie
I found this chart which doesn't help with "miles" but was helpful in comparison to other exercises. http://www.nutristrategy.com/activitylist4.htm Link to comment
Snowmom
I would count one mile for each 30 minutes of exercise in the water. Unless of course, it was swimming, then I believe if you are swimming across the pool, it would be probably closer to 20 minutes a mile. I do have a sticky post with what we count for miles. Thank you for the chart, prayed2baMom. Link to comment
