HannaLee
A friend was recently given 40-year-old raw honey. It's clean and has been stored tightly covered in a plastic container. Is it safe to eat? Link to comment
Lele
Honey keeps forever after that much time it may have crystallized. Just heat it up a bit and it turns back into a liquid. http://www.ghchealth.com/natural-health/he...rown-raw-honey/ Link to comment
Cat
Yup. As long as it is clean and stored properly, I would have no problem using it. Honey from the time of the Egyptian Pharoahs was found to be edible. And it's got natural antibacterial properties that wouldn't be compromised. Now, I probably wouldn't brag about its age to the family... Link to comment
Ambergris
I'd eat it in a heartbeat. I've eaten honey older than me before. It was great on toast with sour cream. Link to comment
GirlNextDoor
What about the honey I have with pecan in it? Link to comment
OINK
oooh! raw honey! that would be so good for my allergies! I'd eat it in a heartbeat! raw honey is hard to find. I suppose I might be able to get it at a health food store, but I bet it'd be expensive. Anybody have any idea what price for a pound of honey is? I saw a jug I think had like 6 lbs and it was over $20. I wasn't sure if that was a good price. Link to comment
sassenach
Here is one website for raw honey. Just look at bulk food sites as well to find good prices and shipping costs, as well. http://carlislehoney.com/index.html Link to comment
blestmomof4
I bought 5 gallons of honey a couple of months back for $85. Blessings, BB Link to comment

Oink, it depends on the particular area and the apiary in question, but I know here cheapest i can find honey is $2.75/pound, which is j ust for clover or wildflower honey, and in 12 pound lots. Honeylocator.com is a useful site for finding local beekeepers Link to comment

Happy to help, esp as it seems to have worked well for you. Not many good options around here. For others who can't find inexpensive honey around them through this site, look into Trader Joe's if you have one around you. They have their mesquite honey for 8.96/3 pounds. A nice flavor/quality to it. Link to comment
TurtleMama
Oink, where I live the cheapest I've yet found is 96 ounces of honey for $16.50. It's good stuff, excellent for those of us with desert allergies (ack), but whoa...time to save for honey! LOL Link to comment
MommaDogs
We're getting $20 a pound but we are chemical free beekeepers. Most of the time, you'll see it for $9 a pound. Link to comment
