CoM
Health Officials: 75 Kids Sickened at 1 NYC School http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517876,00.html NEW YORK — New York City health officials say that about 75 students at a Queens high school have fallen ill with flu-like symptoms and testing is under way to rule out the strain of swine flu that has killed dozens in Mexico. The Health Department's Dr. Don Weiss said Friday that agency doctors and investigators were dispatched to the private St. Francis Preparatory School the previous day after students reported fever, sore throat, cough, aches and pains. No one has been hospitalized. The handful of sick students who remained at the school were tested for a variety of flu strains. Swine flu has sickened at least eight people in Texas and California and has affected more than 1,000 people in Mexico. Link to comment

Why, if they are sick, are they in school unless it is a residential school? My opinion is that this is the reason that some things pass around so much, individuals who are sick are determined to not let it affect them so they go to school, work, shopping, etc and share what they have with everyone else. Cat
The news tonight said that they did NOT rule out this new flu; on the contrary... they believe it is "very likely" that it is. In the US... suspected/confirmed cases in New York Kansas California Texas Minnesota Massachusetts Link to comment
Cat
I searched for the school in NYC... St. Francis Preparatory School. http://www.sfponline.org/ From their "update"... (I've heard NOTHING on the news about this) "Two other schools in the area (one in Westchester, one in Suffolk) recently experienced similar unusually high numbers of students having flu-like symptoms." No wonder the CDC is saying it's already too late to control... Link to comment
Purdy Bear
Today, in the Uk, we had our first TV notification of this flu. Its taken them three days to catch up with the rest of the world, in which anyone could have got off a plane with the thing. Better late then never I guess! Link to comment
Grace&Violets
http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/04/26/swine.flu/index.html According to this, other countries have set up flu testing for all passengers arriving from the US. Why are countries on the other side of the world setting up measures to block it, yet our gvm't hasn't even issued any travel warnings or quarantines? Does the CDC think it's that far out of control in NA that they can't even issue some sort of warning? Link to comment
