I've been away from the computer for a bit but just heard on Fox News that they are investigating 2 deaths in CA as possibly related to Swine. If this is the case it can't be good. Of course they are so busy with Arlen Spector they are not covering it. I'm looking for more news now.

Another note....on a different board that I am following where people are posting what is going on in their area and what they are finding a guy in Houston said the rain is not that bad and water is receeding but Red Cross Shelters are popping up all over.

Also....from what I understand there are only 2 centers to send test to in the States to confirm if this is actual or not. Taking this into consideration the turn around has got to be horrific depending on how many cases are actually sent in so we could be getting VERY SLOW accounts. We may actually not have a clear big picture. Any thoughts on this?

Swine flu link probed in Ark. man's death

Associated Press - May 17, 2009 6:44 PM ET

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Pulaski County's coroner says investigators are probing whether a 28-year-old offshore oil worker's death may have been caused by the swine flu.

Coroner Garland Camper tells The Associated Press that the man died Saturday morning at a Little Rock hospital after suffering from flulike symptoms for six weeks. Camper says samples taken from the man tested positive for several strains of flu, requiring his office to explore the possibility swine flu played a part in the death.

Dr. James Phillips, the state's epidemiologist, says the man's case would be incredibly unusual for the swine flu. However, Phillips says the samples will be sent along to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta for testing.

Camper declined to identify the man. The man's body will undergo an autopsy on Monday.

Arkansas has had six confirmed cases of swine flu since the outbreak began.

I would love to be able to read the transcript for the Arkansas man who died, evidently from flu???... of his autopsy. It does sound complex, to be certain...

I read that there are up to 5 strains of the flu but they are only testing for one and the fact that they it was mentioned that there were several was a complete "slip"....not supposed to be known. I'm looking for more articles about this one.

Nah, like someone said in another thread, people just aren't interested in news that is more than 4 days old. And most attention spans aren't exactly "spans" if you know what I mean. I mean, they probably *are* playing it down some, but I think *they* know how to make something that should be front page into a 3 second blurb, too...

DW:"Hey honey, what was that about a million people dead, where?"

DH: "Sorry, didn't hear it"

DW:"Let's watch the later news to see if they mention it"

20 minutes later...

DH:"Hun, it's going to be 70 tomorrow"

DW: "Great, well we watched the weather, let's go to bed"

:curtsey: Thank you. My rendition of a typical DH/DW conversation.

I heard on HLN news this morning that a 16 month old boy died today from flu like symptoms and they were checking to see if it was swine flu. Also CNN's Dr. Gupka was talking about how this flu is causing unusual deaths. Here is a video on it.

I've mentioned that I have been following a thread on another board and one of the members has a connection. It's pretty obvious this guy is for real because he's been a member forever and he doesn't get bashed....I trust it. I've posted the link hoping that people from here would read that thread but just in case I'm posting what this guy "ecoparity" just found out from a source. He also has more info that he plans to post and if Im able to continue reading I will post here.

5/19 Update

I was able to continue yesterday's conversation with a CDC / WHO source, they confirmed what we've all suspected and pretty much knew:

1. The number of deaths from the pig flu are higher than we've being told. There are a number of "mysterious" deaths within the right date range which are being re-opened. The search terms "dead in bed" I passed on are a key that leads to a great many of these, searches in local media as opposed to national / international will yield more results.

2. The CDC has a "factual" set of numbers for this pandemic. (He / She called it a "pandemic" for the first time and emphasized the word). The problem at hand is that there is a very small number of insiders who know this "factual" case and death count (minus the suspected deaths still being investigated). I haven't been given the actual count just yet, we're thinking over how to relate it in such a way that unwanted attention doesn't come down on these few people.

What's even more interesting is that as part of that discussion I proposed that there must be a growing number of politicians with access to the factual count and DC can't keep a secret unless it involves globalist plans / bribery and even have issues in those cases. I'm led to believe that even the politicians, military, state, federal reps have not been given this "factual count" but have been given a specific set of figures, updated daily which is higher than what the media is given but lower than the true figures.

Why would a very small group of CDC / WHO people keep that data to themselves and not even share it with World leaders?

3. As I related back on the 17th / 18th Japan is in bad shape. I'm told to watch Japan and neighboring countries very carefully. The WHO will begin pulling back the response implemented by the Japanese health ministry, no more border controls or large scale detection efforts.

The big picture here, the real goal is to make the WHO the central power for public health in every nation of the World, period. It's a common tactic in government to allow a crisis to fester out of control and then blame the lack of centralized power, money and resources for the big mess. Katrina worked out pretty well for FEMA and the DHS, regardless of all the blame and smelly stuff thrown in their direction. Power and money were handed to FEMA hand over fist in order to solve the "shortfall" of power and money which supposedly led to FEMA screwing the pooch.

It's also worth noting that due to economic priorities when you see a govt pull back the containment efforts right in the middle of an outbreak you can bet the real fact is that the outbreak has already passed the magic number where it can be contained. That means that even in Japan the counts we're being given are way off as usual.

Lastly,

It's worth noting that when someone is telling a lie involving numbers such as under reporting the behavioral tactic is to use a constant in order to feel "secure" in the lie. Keeping a close eye on the reported counts, especially the revisions such as when Mexico restored the dead to life overnight can be very helpful in estimating the value of "X", "X" being in all probability a percentage by which the count is being reduced.

Okay back from the doctor....very enlightening and scary!!!

I asked her if she thought testing me for swine flu was a good idea considering how long I have been sick and that this round of meds has done little. She looked right at me and said they get daily briefings that are INSTRUCTING THEM NOT TO TEST anyone that has not been to Mexico???? Are they kidding me, I know better than that.

I told her that I am very aware of the transmission of this thing and that the Mexico connection is moot at this point. Then she backpedals and says they don't want new tests to further overwhelm the system. ?????? Then she says, well I probably should have tested you since you do have lung issues but at this point why bother since it is obvious to me you don't have swine flu!

This is not my regular doctor and I am seeing her in a couple of weeks on another matter so I will get more honest info from her. I just find it very strange that for someone with RAD, not regular asthma to be this sick for this long with very little improvement after the zythromicin and predinsone treatments. I have NEVER been this sick for this long with anything lung related before, but I haven't been to Mexico so I am good. LOLOL

By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Editor Maggie Fox, Health And Science Editor – 10 mins ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The new H1N1 influenza virus is now widespread, causing a range of illness, and U.S. health officials said on Tuesday they fear it could mix with drug-resistant versions of seasonal flu.

So far the new strain of swine flu, which has killed seven people in the United States and may have infected more than 100,000, responds well to treatment with antiviral drugs, officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say.

But this year its cousin, a seasonal H1N1 strain, became mostly resistant to the most commonly used antiviral -- Roche AG's Tamiflu. GlaxoSmithKline's Relenza, an inhaled drug, still works.

The CDC said more seasonal flu viruses were making people sick than would normally be expected for May, and the reasons were not clear.

"We think that it may be as much as half, or even more, of the viruses that we are testing now ... are the new H1N1 or cannot be subtyped," the CDC's Dr. Anne Schuchat told reporters in a telephone briefing.

"The particular risk here ... is that co-circulation of this new virus together with the seasonal strains might put us at risk for there to be a reassortment event."

Reassortment is the viral equivalent of sex -- two viruses can meet and swap entire stretches of their genetic material. Flu viruses are especially prone to this and some pandemics have emerged because of this genetic mixing.

Flu viruses also mutate, by making mistakes when replicating.

The seasonal H1N1 that circulated in the United States this season was resistant to Tamiflu -- so resistant that the CDC recommended not even treating flu patients with the pills this year. "We would hate to see this novel strain essentially become resist through that mechanism," Schuchat said.

TIP OF THE ICEBERG

The CDC says there have been 5,469 confirmed cases of the new flu across most of the United States, but Schuchat has said this is only the tip of the iceberg. CDC acting director Dr. Richard Besser estimated last week there were 100,000 cases.

Officials in St. Louis County, Missouri, reported the seventh U.S. death on Tuesday -- a 44-year-old man who had no underlying medical problems.

California state health officials released details of 30 of the early serious cases of H1N1 there, including a prematurely born baby who was infected in the hospital and several people with serious medical conditions.

"About two-thirds of the patients ... had at least one underlying condition that put them at risk," Schuchat said.

Five were pregnant women -- something the CDC also cautioned about last week. Pregnancy can make a woman likely to have serious complications from any kind of influenza.

Some are still in the hospital with very severe illness, Schuchat said. Although seasonal flu co-infections with bacteria often make for more serious disease, that was not the case in any of the H1N1 cases investigated, Schuchat said.

"We were surprised by the frequency of obesity among the severe cases that we are tracking," Schuchat said. It is not clear whether being obese makes a patient more vulnerable, or if the numbers reflect how common obesity in now in the U.S. population, she said.
