CrabGrassAcres
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=...LGKh2ReEN9U-s5g This tells you how to do postural drainage. One thing that really, really makes a difference is to use a vibrator instead of cupping your hand and pounding on the person's chest. I use a long handled vibrator on my chest and back since I have nobody to help me with it. It will freuently break a plug loose and I can cough it up. THEN I can breath. If you or a family member has asthma, it is good to do this regularly. Also for people with COPD it should be a regular treatment. Otherwise, anybody who has been in bed for a day or two for what ever reason, anybody who has had surgery, anybody who has a cold or flu, it is a great way to help them recover. Link to comment
westbrook
good site.. somewhere I have links showing videos of how it is done. for those that haven't seen this technique done... use an ironing board, braced against the couch... have person put their heads down at the bottom. this is a VERY IMPORTANT technique! LEARN IT! COPY IT and put in your folder!!! if a person has lung congestion... this will help break up the mucus in the lungs and may help them breath better! please please do some serious reading at the link provided by CGA. blestmomof4
Thanks for the info Trish. Middle DD has asthma and DH has COPD. I was looking at one of those large handheld vibrators for DH's injured shoulders but now may get one for when someone has chest congestion also. Blessings, BB Link to comment
Teaberry
Crabgrass, thanks for sharing this and Westie, I'd love to see those videos if you find them. Outside of the postural drainage method, I recommend Mucinex, a good vaporizer, and Vicks Vaporub and lots and lots of rest with water. Link to comment
