Stood in front of the Justice of the Peace He in his suit and tie She in a dress from Goodwill Flowers from a roadside stand 4 Witnesses A flowerdog He placed her grandmother's ring on her finger And after four years of being best friends They became Husband and Wife His first attempt at Husband had ended badly As did her first two attempts at Wife And they had both promised themselves They'd never do it again And yet, they did do it again Because, like all people say "This time will be different" And it is. They're still best friends Ten years older Ten years deeper in love Ten years waking up every morning So grateful for the gift Of another day With each other Happy Anniversary, Ward I love you.
