Remember

That day, and for days afterwards, there were no hyphenated Americans.

Together we cried and were comforted by each other's presence.

Together we mourned each and every innocent life taken so violently by evil acts.

Together we marvelled at and mourned the brave souls who rushed in as others tried desperately to find a way out.

Together we raised a fist against those who would dare to steal our lives and our freedoms.

I remember standing outside in the dark as utter silence prevailed in the skies where planes normally criss-cross over head almost hourly, praying for God's protection and blessings upon our people and our nation as we searched out the truth and found our feet once more.

I still pray for us... ALL of us.

And I hope again for the hyphens to be banished forever...
