AMarthaByHeart
As for storing dehydrated food, could you make mylar bags out of the blankets by cutting them then sealing them with a food saver or iron? I thought maybe the smaller buckets it might work. I was afraid if you used it in the 5 or 6 gal. buckets it might get too heavy to do this. Has anyone tried it? I read on some forum that they were also called mylar blankets besides emergency blankets. If this could be done it sure would save money. Has anyone tried it? I bought some mylar bags from Emergency Essentials for $2.50 a piece. They are really thick. I seal them by using the iron. It seemed to work pretty good, but it blankets sure would save a lot of money if that come be done. Link to comment
Violet
Martha, The mylar blankets are not food grade, so please, don't use them for food storage. They may well leach chemicals into your foods. Link to comment
