Mylar blankets

Recommended Posts

As for storing dehydrated food, could you make mylar bags out of the blankets by cutting them then sealing them with a food saver or iron? I thought maybe the smaller buckets it might work. I was afraid if you used it in the 5 or 6 gal. buckets it might get too heavy to do this. Has anyone tried it? I read on some forum that they were also called mylar blankets besides emergency blankets. If this could be done it sure would save money. Has anyone tried it?

I bought some mylar bags from Emergency Essentials for $2.50 a piece. They are really thick. I seal them by using the iron. It seemed to work pretty good, but it blankets sure would save a lot of money if that come be done.
