Great Dollar Devaluation Disaster

Recommended Posts

Virginia has been described as purple rather than red for a long time now.  It's still on the brink, barely past a tie, and could teeter back and forth, one voting cycle at a time, until a new status quo is firmly established.  That's likely to take at least half a generation.  As to this shift being the result of bought votes, I'd like to see the basis and the source of the underlying facts before I accepted such a contention.

Here's a little test we were talking about some years ago:  If the source of the shift is bought votes, the new people will probably be very conservative in any changes they vote in  for the first term, to get people used to the incumbents, and then slip in changes bit by bit, so they are less noticeable and harder for subsequently elected legislatures to undo.  The difficulty of undoing is a significant point.  One big thing is easy to undo.  Twenty or thirty smaller things that are EACH interconnected with two or twelve or ninety other things are rather more difficult to undo.  Say you wanted to require all children to learn French and decide they should start in third grade.  You would have separate bills, by separate legislators, probably in separate sessions, requiring French to get an AA diploma, then put it on the teacher competency exams, then put it on all the gifted sites everywhere, give a bunch of money to French clubs, put money into French-based scholarships and school-based prizes, require French-language TV and radio at kid-level, require it to get a high school diploma, put it on middle-school requirements, and a few years down the line--maybe five or six years after your first bought session if you are being really sneaky--add it to the elementary school requirements.  On the other hand, if the source of the color shift is massive voter dissatisfaction with the prior status quo, the legislature is likely to go all out in making sweeping changes--striking while the iron is hot--because it is driven by passion rather than calculation.  The first bill would require all children to study French (instead of cursive writing) starting in third grade.  Boom.  Done.  Does this still make sense?

Cookiejar has been gone from the group for a long, long time.  I would like to think she is okay.

Ambergris, Va has gone total blue.  The websites were We The People at newsletter@wethepeopledaily.com and Conservative HQ at info@conservativehq.com.. For some reason it won't let me send it to here. The subject for Conservative is have you voted? It's conservatives against Soros and Hollywood in today's VA elections.   Also it was in the local newspaper, The VA pilot how the state has won both the house and sentate. Plus our crazy governor Ralph Norstrom has already come out and said he is banning all assult weapons and passing the red flag or whatever it is they call that. Someone asked if he was going to take all guns from VA citizens and he just said first thing first, we will see about that later.. He is the one that decided abortion should be to term and if the baby lives through it, to just let it lay there and die. Doctors were not to help the child.  And yes George Soros, pro abortionist, Family clinics that do abortions,  CA and NY were all in on it. They will take one state at a time till they turn them all blue.  This is deep state. They want socialism, and the one world government. To do that they must get Donald Trump out of office. They will stop at nothing. It is all about the power.  And now on the local news they said that Bloomberg from NY is coming into the race as a Democrat. He also had his hand in the VA election and stated so. We have not had both the house, senate, and governor democrats since 1993. This state is doomed for desaster. Northern VA is the worst. Now with the gerrymandering that took place we lost our local delicate to a democrat.  We have never had a sweeping win that set stage for a total control of VA .  Also Ralph Norstrom was a pediatician. So how in the world would he be for abortion like he is.  I will try to find the other info and hope to be able to transfer it to here. My computer is very old with a lot of issues, with one being the keys stick and I have to hit them hard to get them to work.

Also seeing less food in grocery stores. Some things we used to buy we can't get any longer unless it is on line.   I am seeing an increase in food prices as well as clothing.

Floor space at stores are at a premium. Many have switched to online. Amazon Prime has changed the world of purchasing. Younger generation would rather order online than stand in lines at the stores. We asked the clerks at Home Depot why their inventory is shrinking so much. The main answer was that online ordering was much more cost-effective than stocking inventory, environmentally controlling the stores, and hiring dependable and knowledgeable clerks.  :0327:  Also, online ordering eliminates the 10% military discount for veterans.

Aldi has hit the bullseye on marketing and customer retention. All the stores around here are doubling in size due to their success.

Good points Homesteader. Plus it cuts down on theft too.

I heard another K-Mart and Sears store are closing down in Indiana. Might already be gone.

I don't buy many clothes. I have plenty of socks and undies and night wear. Probably enough to last for ten years. You just have to watch for the elastic in them. It can go poof on ya. I get most of my tee shirts at either JoAnne or Michaels. They are three and sometimes four for $10.00. I have seen them for $2.50. Nice colors too. It doesn't pay for me to buy expensive clothes. I usually spill something on it anyway. Or sweat on it.

You're right about Aldi's Homey.  All around here they're getting larger too.  I've shopped Aldi's for years and usually saw the poorer people in there.  Now there's a lot of the middle class right along with me buying and buying.  I love Aldi's for stocking up for winter.

We've got another K-Mart closing by us Jeepers.  I love the store but I'm really not much of a shopper.  I hate to lose it but I don't support it enough to help keep it open.

Total blue for now.  Sudden, sweeping changes like this are the kinds of things that cause the pendulum to swing harder.  That's what I was saying.  A smart business model would change "normal" a bit at a time, shift the center of gravity so to speak, so the pendulum would not swing to the red at the next election.

Also, don't just read things like wethepeopledaily.com and such.  Read the source documents to see what people are actually saying.  You can't trust what spin people put on things, what they take out and leave in and rearrange.  I've seen way too much of that, and been misled way too many times.  Read the actual words that were actually said.  Go to the horse's mouth.

Dee, I hate to see K-Mart go. We had one closer to my house than Wal-Mart is. I would go there to pick up small stuff. I really miss it for quick errands. Plus I get my summer shorts there. Nice weight summer denim nearly knee length and elastic waist. And cheap too. I really stocked up on them last summer and this summer. There is only one left around here that is semi close to me. The last time I was there a few months ago, they had strange tags on everything. Wonder if they are still there.

I've never been to Aldis. I don't know how their cart system works.   Put a quarter in and pull? Then how do you get it back when you return the cart? Sigh. Suppose I'll have to YouTube it.    And do you take your own bags and pack them yourself?

I know my cart will be the one that jams up the whole works. Never fails.

Ambergris, I watch several different news programs.  The main one is a paid prescription called Koenig world watch daily right out of Washington DC.  That one is a Christian news cast only by members only type of news.  It has been very reliable.  It was on TV today they are already trying to get bills past against us having guns.  Things here will be bad. Don't think civilans are going down that easy when they got their guns legal and have a cw  permit.

Jeepers, Aldi's is easy to do the carts.  When you return your cart, just hook the chain back to the one in front and it will give your quarter back as soon as it locks.   You do need your own bags.  You do pack your own grocerys. Never had a cart to jam.  Once you put in quarter and remove basket, just hook chain back for your quarter.   We may be getting an aldi's closer to us. Right now we have to drive aways to get there.  So we only go when we need to be out that way for other things and make it one trip for all.  We also have a Lidil's. It is basicly same as Aldi's but you don't have to use a quarter to get a cart.  Still need to use your own bags and bag your own groceries.  But it is suppose to be what keeps their prices down.

Homesteader, you are right about the online shopping. it is ok for some things, but I would rather go to store to see what I am buying and how well it is made. As for groceries. I only order certain things on line that I cannot get in a grocery store. Like Walmart was the only place that sold cans of grapefruit.  Now I have to go on line to Walmart to order as they are no longer carrying it in the store. Makes no since. But that is the only way I can get it.

We lost Both Sears and K-Marts well over a year ago. Miss both of them. I am afraid there will be more big department stores going out of business as more and more people keep buying on line.  I try to keep the small businesses in business by shopping those stores locally when I can.

Thanks Littlesister. I watched a video about it. Guess I'm not the only one who fears the Aldi carts if there are videos about them. LOL. I don't mind packing my own. In fact I'd rather.  Makes it easier to unpack and put things away.

They showed how to hack them if you don't have a quarter. Use the round head part of a key.  Of course you have to push the buggy around with your key sticking out. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

No Aldi here, but they keep saying there will be.  When I shop one a ways from us, there is usually someone with a quarter in their hand and they will give it to me and I give them my returned basket.  Don't have to deal with putting it back in the basket lines in the rain.  Good way for both of us.

We are also prepping hard as we expect trouble - whoever wins - the next general election.   I am starting to think we are approaching (if not living in) the tribulation of the end times, and I fear the rise of socialistic fascism.  Nobody has bothered to learn (or pay attention to) history and it is repeating....the anti-semitic stuff is alarming.....so we are keeping our powder dry, prepping hard, and watching developments with interest and trepidation.

The schools have taught that socialism is great and America is bad.   True American history is not taught.   It is revised, twisted or outright erased.   No part of history is safe from this.  (I could have a big rant here just on the Pilgrims and Thanksgiving. )   Those students are now voters.  There was a poll that showed 70% of millenials would vote for socialism.   That's what they were taught.   Now there's stuff being taught that is :o , down to kindergarten level, that is pornographic.  Where that will lead... :sigh:

Cleon Skousen's The Naked Communist  lists 45 goals of communism today (this was written in 1958) and it's downright chilling to read now.

I know we have many different political views here.   I don't want to offend or upset anyone here.   I kept changing my wording.

My family is praying for a Great Awakening.

WM is carrying less and less.   They're almost a big Dollar General, but with fitting rooms and a produce section.

Are photo centers gone from stores, too?   My Sam's just took their's out.   That's where we printed our pictures.   :(

Everything is being done "on line"  I hate to sound like a tin hat person, but I wonder if it is not a case of "the better to monitor you, my dear"

WM wants us to order everything to be delivered to the house, instead of pick up in the store.  Ugh.  I have to go to walgreens for photos, and that is from disks.  I have not even seen film sold except on line as a specialty item.  So much for learning to develop my own photos as a teen - it was fun while it lasted.....

I sense a fit of  retro-tech coming on....make a crystal radio (no power needed, no batteries, no NUTHIN)....make a pinhole camera & develop film in the bathroom.....go out and dig some jerusalem artichokes.....you know what I'm talkin' about!  Mr Wizard ain't got nuthin' on me!
