I do know that my heart has been heavy this morning for that boy and his family. It turns out it was his aunt that was with him...but can you imagine having to lift up your bleeding nephew in your arms and drive him to the hospital? Or getting a call that your child had been shot? I prayed quite a while for that situation this morning. Our society is coming apart,that is for sure. Quote Link to comment

None of us is guaranteed a tomorrow, all we can do is make the best of today. Do what you can to prepare, but don't stop doing the things you love or need to do and get into too much of a "bunker" mentality. None of us can protect ourselves from this type of predator. Guest Guest Posted October 8, 2002 Share Posted October 8, 2002 Hi all! I'm sitting here, trying to enjoy some classical music and it's not working too well. In the back of my mind I have a terrified mother whose son was shot today on his way to school in Maryland. As far as I know, the boy is only 13. But what does that matter? He is a life just like the other ones that were lost last week. Whoever did this had no concern that he was young, or that hundreds, thousands of people would be affected by this as I am. One lady got shot coming out of Michaels (where I often go), another man getting gas...another at a grocery store... Is it starting? Is the feeling that I had in my gut that I had to prepare for starting? I live nowhere near MD, and yet can't stop wondering...are they going to move states? Why Maryland? And I'm trying not to think that MD is very far, it couldn't possibly affect us here in MN. It could have just as easily been our state... At the same time that this urgency to prepare has gotten grater because of this, I am reminding my soul, heart and mind what my spirit already knows...The Lord reigns! Blessed be the name of the Lord! As a Christian singer says "...He is the King of the Jungle..." and this world is the jungle. So in the mist of fear, prayers, and concern I will try to keep my head and heart looking up to the only One who is able to keep us from harm. What do you all think of this? My sister in law thinks that the shootings are NOT random (I disagree), that they all have something in common. I'd like to know what your opinion is. Hope you have a great day!
