rough week

Recommended Posts

life is getting back to normal. We do not know what triggered the Hashimoto's. but as recent studies said GF diet is better DD is going to trial going gluten free for 6 - 12 months.

we got home early this morning (about 1.30am?) from specialist appointment and tests. DH will have surgery at the end of this month to take out the growing nodule. The PET scan indicates that it probably is metastatic cancer, but the professor who reads the scan hasn't given his report yet. life just keeps going ...

Oh Sue, my prayers are with you and your family. I know, oh so well, how hard the emotional ups and downs of cancer can effect the entire family. I pray peace and comfort for you and healing for your husband.

I have been trying to book accommodation for me while DH is in hospital. Only to find out that is Mardi Gras time and places are booked out or have hiked up the prices. Finally found a room only at $169 a night. I would have preferred a kitchenette, but not prepared to pay $200 for it. the good news is it is just 5 minutes to the hospital.

Many thanks for your prayers and love. We spent most of the day sitting in the peri operative waiting room, to be told that the previous surgery had been complex so they cancelled David's. So unimpressed. We will head home and book everything again for the 21st Marsh. I really hope they don't cancel that one too as it is very expensive for accommodation travel and food. we will get something back eventually for the travel and part of the accommodation. But I wont have enough personal leave to cover the time off and it will use up my annual leave. so frustrating.

Surgery was rescheduled for the 21st March. We made our plans and got ourselves down to Sydney. DH was told to be at the perioperative unit by 10 am. I didn't like the sound of that, but we rocked up at 10am. he was tagged neatly and I asked what time would the surgery be. Oh there were 2 four hour surgeries before him. My heart sank, that was the same as the time before when it was cancelled. We told the nurse and she looked at us, then told us to go out and wait. there is a long wait room if we felt like we wanted to use it. About 11.30 our DD arrived, as I walked up to the hospital entrance to meet her, a friend rang and I told him our concerns about being cancelled yet again. He prayed that the surgery would happen and not be cancelled. Going back to join DH, my daughter enjoyed having time to see him before his surgery. She had been sitting with us for about 3 minutes when the nurse arrived. Change of plans - time to go to theatre! we were also told a minimum of 3 days and anything up to a week stay in hospital post op. surgery Wednesday afternoon, - discharge Friday morning! we had committed to staying till Sunday so Saturday we bought day passes to the bus, train and ferry services,, and spent the afternoon riding the ferries on Sydney Harbour. it was a lovely way to spend the day.

So we are home, I am back at work, and life goes back to normal.

Thanks so much for all those who prayed. We both appreciate it! :bighug2:
