Lavender #2 of 13 - herb garden

Recommended Posts

HOLY MOLY! I didn't realize there were so many different types of lavender. Why type of lavender to you plant and why did you choose that type.

These are the types I have run across:

French Long

Lady Lavender

English Lavender

Hidcote Blue

Munstead

And here I thought lavender was "just" lavender :0327::shrug::scratchhead::shakinghead:

me's thinks me's getting in over my head with this herb garden.

Dare I ask what other herbs you plant?

I bought a lavender plant sold at WM. I had no idea there were so many varieties. In my soil with our heat, it died within a week. I quit trying to grow it. :Blushing:

Other herbs. Mexican Oregano, thyme, sage, chives, basil, dill, cumin, marjoram, mint, etc. - there are many varieties of those too. Don't forget the root varieties, ginger, garlic, etc.

Currently growing; Mex. Oregano, thyme, chives and mint.

I still have to do the 2nd digging and mixing in of the additives for my new garden, but I have plans to make an extensive herb garden.

We have sage (we've pulled it but it keeps coming back), I did parsley this year in between the asparagus and basil but I pulled it because my tomatoes weren't turning. Once, I pulled the basil, I had tomatoes ready to pick. Wierd because I followed the companion guides and things I thought would produce didn't. Maybe, I'll try again this year.
