I got some great deals today

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting one of these for a long time. I found this Green Mountain Mower in almost mint condition at the flea market today for 25.00!!! I think the owner probably didn't realize that it needed to be adjusted as it didn't cut to well when we got home until we made some adjustments. It cuts great now.

I also got 4 cases of Mason quart jars for 20.00.

Yes these are lovely hand mowers (we have two) and you really did get it at a bargain! Keeping them cleaned, sharpened & well oiled is a must. We did replace hand grips on one of ours but they're already showing wear, so you might want to buy a couple pairs of replacements. We found we have to cut (not mow) grass much more frequently though or it get alot harder...LOL

I got mine for same price at thrift store. Figured if I couldn't find a scythe (tho I've been looking for years!) I'd grab this. Goats on leash are even better tho.....

Mt. Rider...... here is one example of hand scythes on amazon.com

you can also just type in hand scythe to see their full selection and types available, it would probably be delivered US Mail or UPS or FedEx. Depends on who ships and how.

Rider, we used to have a tool that was really good for cutting down tall weeds and grass. It was loaned out and that was the end of that. :(

I'm not sure what it was called so I can't Google it. It looked like a small chain saw blade on the end of a golf club. The blade was horizontal to the vertical stick. The stick (golf club like thing) was long enough that you could stand up straight and just swing it back and forth and the weeds and tall grass would be cut down. The whole thing probably weighed a pound or less. At that time, I think we got it at a garden center.

Well, of course after I posted I found what I was looking for. :sigh:

Come to think of it, we probably did get it at Sears. D-ex used to buy a lot of his tools there. This is a lot easier on the back than a regular scythe because of the long handle.
