ANewMe
I'm seeing things tonight that HAVE ME WAY BEYOND ALARMED. I Will post a compilation of what while researching tonight and I'll try to keep it simple and to the point. DONT FORGET WHAT I POSTED BEFORE http://ebola.emedtv....ion-period.html Is a Person Contagious During the Ebola Incubation Period? Even if a person exhibits no signs or symptoms of Ebola, he or she can still spread the virus during the Ebola incubation period. Once Ebola virus symptoms begin, the person can remain contagious for about three more weeks. THIS WOULD MEAN THAT ANYONE THAT HAD CONTACT DURING INCUBATION PERIOD...NOT JUST AFTER SYMPTOMS START COULD BE INFECTED Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
I've seen reports that say No contagion until symptoms [fever, for one thing]. Do they really know? Do they really tell us the truth? CNN has a video describing the type of plane they'll be transported in. Shows the isolation unit within the plane. Yes, first time Ebola will be HERE. MtRider for these two who were caring for others with this disease when they fell ill. that it will stay contained and some treatment found. for us all.... Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
Morristown, TN Dr is in quarantine after returning from Africa from treating Ebola patients on Wed. http://www.wate.com/story/26165683/morristown-doctor-home-in-quarantine-after-treating-ebola-in-Africa So my question is....were they quarantined all the way back home? How many people did they come in contact with? So we have: Dr. in TN quarantined....who worked on patients and got here on Wed from Liberia Dr. family who was with him up until 2 days before being symptomatic that are on "fever watch" in TX Dr. that is infected and in bad shape being TRANSPORTED TO U.S...... Now..... knowing that a person can spread the virus before knowing they are infected where does this leave us? Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
Putting aside the concerns that I have personally and putting myself in the families shoes.....I can't IMAGINE what the family in TX is going through. Many have vilified them for no just cause. This woman is having to deal with knowing her husband will most likely die as well as fear for her and her children's safety as well. These are GOOD people who KNEW the risk but took God's call to help....they had no idea when they came here for that family event this would transpire. I'm sure that they are finding comfort in knowing that their loved one will be transported here where they can get better care although the prognosis is not good. Kuddo's to the Dr. in TN who has quarantined at home.....there's that Dr. running around in Canada that has not done so. My prayers are with all of these affected, the ones who will come in contact with them and the ones who are still there....some trapped. In saying that....knowledge is power so we need to remain vigilant and share what we find and remember to continue to pray, pray, pray, pray Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
THIS IS UNREAL......TOTAL CHAOS in this African Community. http://frontpageafricaonline.com/index.php/health-sci/2512-lofa-ebola-patient-flees-tellewoyan-hospital-shut-down Tokpa Tarnue, a local journalist on the scene told FrontPageAfrica Wednesday that the majority of the suspected patients were in a holding room at the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital while awaiting their departure for a treatment and isolation center in Foya when they abruptly left their room and moved into other wards that later resulted to all health workers escaping the hospital compound in deep fear.According to the journalist, the suspected patients managed to leave the hospital premises and ran into various homes and streets, a situation that caused severe panic among citizens and residents of Voinjama who were likewise escaping from the patients fearing not to contract the deadly Ebola virus. He told FrontPageAfrica that for several hours Voinjama was like a ghost town as many residents escaped the city while others locked themselves in their homes.Said the local journalist: “Everybody left. They had suspected Ebola patients in a holding room that is not well equipped. They are normally kept there before they are taken to Foya. In the process of doing that, those suspected patients left their wards and stating entering the children's ward and other places while they were vomiting and releasing feces at the same time. Based on that the entire hospital staff all left including the doctors and nurses. Up to now they have not gone back to work.” Ebola: Spider's web of infection is growing as hunt continues for 30,000 'victims' of outbreakJul 30, 2014 22:07 By Andrew Gregory, Jack Blanchard[link to www.mirror.co.uk]The hunt for people in contact with deadly Ebola was dramatically escalated tonight as the risk of infection spread across the globe like a giant spider’s web.Initially health officials wanted to trace only a few hundred passengers on two planes which had carried victim Patrick Sawyer, 40.But – as Cabinet ministers held an emergency Cobra meeting in London – the search was widened to find up to 30,000 people who could be hosting the organism which kills 90% of sufferers. The list includes anyone at one of four airports visited by American dad-of-three Sawyer, and those in contact with him in Nigeria’s capital Lagos, home to 17 million, where he died five days ago.Mike Noyes, of Action Aid, said: “This is the worst Ebola outbreak the world has ever seen."The most worrying thing is not just the numbers of people dying, but how long it is going on for.“Most outbreaks last six weeks to two months. This one began in February and is speeding up.“If anyone could answer the question ‘Why?’, we might be able to stop it. Instead, the reach of the spider web of infection is growing.” Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
I'm sharing this post from another site....http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message2513431/pg265 (Lots of conspiracy and such on this site, but I have found one very informative thread that is pretty straight up facts with links and they are sifting through the junk like the satire and propaganda sites to make sure it's not posted. The guys on this particular thread are not trying to sensationalize or spread fear.....just collaborate and share knowledge.) Claims that hospitals in the developed world won't have any probems with Ebola are based on the assumption that they will know that they are dealing with it, from the beginning. Suppose they don't?Consider the following scenario:A high official leaves Liberia for NYC to escape Ebola. Unfortunately, he already has it, but doesn't know it. He has many relatives and friends in NYC who are eager for information. He meets with them at social functions to update them. After a few days, he becomes ill. At first, he is in denial and puts down his symptoms to some bad seafood. But the symptoms get worse. He finally goes to a prestigious medical center where he announces that he is from Liberia and may have Ebola. A superbly trained staff spring into action. The patient is isolated in a room with appropriate ventilation. All staff wear PPE. Although the patient dies, no HCWs get infected.Meanwhile, one of the Liberian's less affluent American friends has gotten on a bus to Philadelphia. She vomits in the rest room at the bus station. The cleaning staff don't get to the vomitis for a couple of hours and don't do a good job of cleaning it up. The American friend goes to a crowded, poorly funded medical clinic and sits for 2 hours waiting to see a doctor. She goes to the bathroom with diarrhea and is too sick to wash her hands properly. Finally, she sees a nurse practioner who sends her home with several prescriptions to relieve her gastrointestinal problems. The patient gets sicker. Now, she goes to the ER of a busy city hospital. After waiting for an hour, she sees a nurse who realises that the woman is very ill. A doctor sees her and tests are begun. At some point, she is asked if she has recently returned from West Africa. The patient answers no, failing to mention the party where she met the Liberian official. Eventually, the woman is transferred to a hospital with more advanced facilities and specialists. Here, she is diagnosed with Ebola. No HCWs are infected from the primary case (the Liberian official). But from the secondary case (the American friend)?Making projections based on ideal scenarios may not be the best policy. I submit that the scenario outlined above is plausible and should be taken into consideration for planning purposes. Edited to add another scenario that I found https://storify.com/GaltsGirl/rick-wilson-tells-twitter-a-story Just something to think about Edited August 1, 2014 by ANewMe Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
Sawyer’s Final Hours In Lagos: ‘Indiscipline’, Rage, Strange http://frontpageafricaonline.com/index.php/news/2506-sawyer-s-final-hours-in-lagos-indiscipline-rage-strange I can not stress to you how interesting this story is. He actually urinated on health officials. The whole article is unbelievable I hope I am not going overboard on my posts or irritating others the abundance of posts. I'm trying not to post anything that is redundant. Another reason this is really getting to me is because my husband works in the oilfields and travels a good bit to random places. He just got home from AFRICA in May......cut it a bit close I would say. I told him last night he could not go again! Edited August 1, 2014 by ANewMe Quote Link to comment
Annarchy
(((((ANM))))) Last night I was thinking about the spread of this virus. Remembering the ending of the recent movie 'planet of the apes'. At the end of that movie, the graphics show how quickly the virus spread from plane to plane, from continent to continent. With our sophisticated modes of transportation, the infections can spread uncontrollably without anyone knowing, until it is too late. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
It was obvious from that earlier blog that Shepherd's Purse is taking every precaution ....EVEN with the staff that SHOULD NOT be infected. They have been evacuated from a country that is getting increasingly hostile to foreigners but have them sequestered for the duration outlined by CDC. Since the Tenn. doctor was in the same compound as the rest of the Shepherd's Purse folks, I would assume they are still taking all precautions. I would be quite shocked if they sent this guy home via commercial airlines...... I just don't think these are the situations we need to worry so much about. ......But there are others (like the above 'scenario') that truly might (unknowingly or recklessly) endanger others. ....I do hope everyone who STILL needs to...is stocking up on food, supplies to stay home themselves if things get out of control in their location. The time to do this is ....now, of course. THIS is what we CAN do about all this. In most of it, we are powerless. MtRider .....and we can speak frequently to our Father who is anything but powerless, asking for His advice for ourselves... Edited August 1, 2014 by Mt_Rider Quote Link to comment

ANewMe
So true Mt. Rider.....I was speaking with my Daddy about this and he was talking about the Israel issue and the possibility of ammo even going higher and getting more scarce. He didn't know much about the Ebola situation until I informed him....now it seems it's becoming more of a story on MSM. He said the same as you....nothing you can do but what you can do.... and all you CAN do about this situation is make sure you are stocked as much as possible. It's been a bad fibro day for me so I haven't been on much. Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
Executive Order that had been declared by GWB was revised today by Obama yesterday. Will post a snip of the amendment and a link in case you want to read the complete EO http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/07/31/executive-order-revised-list-quarantinable-communicable-diseases "( Severe acute respiratory syndromes, which are diseases that are associated with fever and signs and symptoms of pneumonia or other respiratory illness, are capable of being transmitted from person to person, and that either are causing, or have the potential to cause, a pandemic, or, upon infection, are highly likely to cause mortality or serious morbidity if not properly controlled. This subsection does not apply to influenza." WHO Director-General assesses the Ebola outbreak with three West African presidents (Today)....just some snippets http://who.int/dg/speeches/2014/ebola/en/ It is the largest in terms of geographical areas already affected and others at immediate risk of further spread. It is taking place in areas with fluid population movements over porous borders, and it has demonstrated its ability to spread via air travel, contrary to what has been seen in past outbreaks. Cases are occurring in rural areas which are difficult to access, but also in densely populated capital cities. First, this outbreak is moving faster than our efforts to control it. If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socioeconomic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries. As I said before, this meeting must mark a turning point in the outbreak response. Did you know that America had Quarantine stations? ANewMe
So what do you guys think about all "waste" from the two Ebola patients being dumped into the sewage system? Why not burn it?...Again just a snippet with link to article http://www.webmd.com/news/20140801/american-ebola-patients-returning-us Their bodily waste, including stool, will be flushed into the public sewer system. Ribner said there was no risk of transmission to the general public because waste management practices will kill any virus that’s flushed into waste water. “The U.S. public health service has established that that is an effective way of dealing with these viruses,” he said. “Whatever comes out of the public sewer system should not be contagious." Jeepers
“Any standard disinfectant will be more than capable of inactivating Ebola,” he said. “We don’t think there will be any secondary cases as a result of caring for these patients in the U.S.” Good to know they are thinking!Glad I've got my bottle of bleach and Lysol handy. So why aren't they using it in Africa if it's that easy to kill? I still don't like the fact that they are bringing people (American or not) to a country that still hasn't had any cases of Ebola on it's soil. I want to know who okayed it. What does our president say about it? Why tempt fate.11 Things you should never flush down a toilet. Check out number 4-6-10. Homesteader
Here's a good article on why Ebola won't survive in the States. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2014/08/01/why-youre-not-going-to-get-ebola-in-the-u-s/ What an interesting tweet from Donald Trump. He wants the two American medical patients to be left in Africa to be treated. I bet he won't send a dime to help the overworked, understaffed, personnel at the primitive clinics who are desperately trying to help the sick and dying. Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
Good article, Homesteader. Not sure I liked hearing that those other [more easily transmitting] diseases have been in US...but ...we already knew that. Homesteader
Dr. Kent Brantly has arrived in Atlanta in the sterile pod. If you've ever lived overseas in a 3rd world, you would understand the relief of landing back on your own soil. However, I know Dr. Brantly will be thinking more about his coworkers and those Africans afflicted with the disease. That's just the way he is. He will also let them experiment on him even if his death will save others around the world. Here's the short news release. btw - Samaritan's purse covered the cost of bringing home these two missionaries. The second should arrive in several days as the same jet will go back for her. The jet only has one sterile pod for one patient. http://news.msn.com/us/us-doctor-with-ebola-arrives-in-atlanta Quote Link to comment
Twilight
Now the medics and those going down to help are being met with slingshots, machetes etc. They say it is the western doctors that are spreading the disease and killing the people. I am glad Dr. Brantly is here... and hope they get her safely here as well. Witch doctors still have a tremendous power in that country. Quote Link to comment
ANewMe
Ebola terror at Gatwick as passenger collapses and dies getting off Sierra Leone flighthttp://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ebola-terror-gatwick-passenger-collapses-3977051#ixzz39NouRPHIFollow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook Staff tell of fears as jet from Africa is quarantined after the death of passenger who was 'sweating and vomiting' before she collapsed Workers said they were terrified the virus could spread globally through the busy international hub from the West African country which is in the grip of the deadly epidemic. The woman, said to be 72, became ill on the gangway after she left a Gambia Bird jet with 128 passengers on board. She died in hospital on Saturday. Tests were carried out to see if the woman had the disease. The plane was quarantined as officials desperately tried to trace everyone who had been in contact with the woman. Airport workers faced an anxious wait to see if the woman had Ebola. One said: “Everyone’s just petrified. Speaking of the horrific moment the passenger collapsed, the shocked staff member added: “The woman was sweating buckets and vomiting. “Paramedics arrived to try and help her. The next thing everybody was there… emergency crews, airfield operations, even immigration. “They closed down the jet bridge and put the aircraft into quarantine. “They took everyone’s details, even the guy who fuels the aircraft.” The plane carrying the woman came from Freetown in Sierra Leone – a country with the highest number of victims from the disease. It stopped at Banjul in The Gambia before landing in Gatwick at 8.15am on Saturday after a five-hour flight. Public Health England tried to allay fears of an Ebola breakout in Britain. It said the woman showed no symptoms during the flight. One official added: “Public Health England is aware a passenger arriving on a flight from The Gambia that landed at Gatwick airport on Saturday fell ill shortly after disembarking. "The passenger was taken to hospital and sadly died. “In line with standard procedures, tests are being undertaken to determine the cause of death. “The patient’s symptoms suggest that Ebola is very unlikely but as a precaution this is one of the tests being undertaken. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ebola-terror-gatwick-passenger-collapses-3977051#ixzz39Npmrx98Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook I would like to know how they can say that is not symptomatic of Ebola????? http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ebola-terror-gatwick-passenger-collapses-3977051#ixzz39No2aORoFollow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook Edited August 4, 2014 by ANewMe Quote Link to comment

ANewMe
I hope and pray for them both. I don't understand, however, how he was in grave condition when the plane got there but then miraculously walked into the facility. Less than 20 hrs...... The thought of them coming home is frightening....no doubt. My husband was just there in May and I can't imagine if his stay had been longer or being so far away from him during such a time even though there would be no contact Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
I wondered that too. Not many 'gravely ill' people could walk that distance in all of that garb he had on. I didn't see it but read about it. Assuming it really was him. They also say if you take the proper precautions you won't get it. I was assuming (again) that he and the others were taking proper precautions in Africa. I can't imagine a doctor not doing everything humanly possible to avoid getting Ebola. Especially after seeing the horrible way people die from it. Quote Link to comment
dogmom4
I wondered about him being should to walk as well. Samaritans Purse today said there was slight improvement. Maybe that boys blood did have antibodies that helped? We can only hope. Too many have died from this. Quote Link to comment
