Mt_Rider Report post Posted October 28, 2017 Is there just one oil field shut down or is this a trend. If so.....why? In areas of less population density...small towns/agri rural.....if the main job provider shuts down, it's very hard for the area to survive, unfortunately. MtRider ..... God has your back.. MtRider, it is just our area. Here people got greedy when oil was $150 a barrel and they over pumped. They basically flooded the market. We are small town /agri rural and yes the main job provider cut back big time which caused two plants here to do major cut backs and a lot of the little roustabout companies went where there was work or closed up shop. I still have my job at the church but well no benefits and the pay is good for a church but not enough to support a family on and make house payments.
Becca_Anne Report post Posted September 19, 2018 Praying for you! My DH has been out of work for 6 yrs, now working on re-education to try for a different field. I am very thankful my job just barely meets our needs and has benefits. But long term we are sliding backwards so really need a second income. I hope your DH gets a job soon!

kappydell Report post Posted November 14, 2018 From all the hoops there are to get on disability you'd think they are trying to make you go away....get lost....give up....NOT. Thank goodness things are lookin' up at last.
Snowmom Report post Posted December 7, 2018 Glad to hear, kappydell, I do think that there are times that some of those offices do try to get you to give up. Glad you didn't give up though. Hope all goes well for you.
