Jeepers
I heard it explained pretty well on the radio today. With airborne particles, the droplets are heavy and sink to a surface. They are affected by gravity. Think of a light misty rain. If a virus is airborne you can walk into a room and touch something that has virus droplets on the surface and contract the virus. With aerosolized particles, the droplets are very light weight and can float in the air for a long period of time. Think of fog. If a virus is aerosolized, you can walk into a room and contract the virus by just breathing in the "virus fog". In other words if you walk into a room where someone has an airborne virus, you must either be coughed/sneezed on or touch a surface that still has live droplets on it and then touch your eyes/nose/mouth etc. If the same virus is aerosolized, all you have to do is walk into a room and breathe air that may still have suspended virus particles floating around. That was the reasoning they gave but the above wording and examples are mine so consider the source. I think a lot of people use the two terms interchangeably though. Simply put: Airborne is Lava soap. It's heavy and sinks. Aerosolized is Ivory soap and floats. Which weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of lead? A pound is a pound but the lead will sink faster. I'll stop now. 1 2 Link to comment

Mt_Rider
Yeah, my daily CO stats [which I copy/paste before they disappear daily] separates those numbers. Except there is no pneumonia mention in our stats. There was some adjusting the past 3 days..... Only about 10. Seems pretty consistent. Higher than mid June but still not really climbing...yet. I do like seeing the cases that are not cumulative for CO. I've been subtracting from day before and recording the difference. 2nd link/2nd chart ..... Deaths involving COVID and pneumonia not influenza = 797 . All deaths involving COVID = 1,542 . I thot the thing that killed them WAS pneumonia complications. What else....heart attack? All those "comormidity factors" ? MtRider ....thanks. Link to comment

You can see the mist travel, and you can see most of it fall. Some goes amazingly far, but it does fall eventually. Airborne keeps going like fallout. Link to comment

The site will be ready to be opened on July 20, said former Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt, now a special assistant to Judge Sam Biscoe on the county’s COVID-19 response. “We will not open it on the 20th if we don’t need it,” Eckhardt said. “We want to have it ready by July 20 but whether or not we open is going to depend on whether the hospitals can continue to absorb all the patients, which is far preferable.” 2 Link to comment
Jeepers
Ohio governor ordered a mask law starting today at 6:00pm for seven counties. I'm in one of them and that suits me fine. The more mask wearers the better. Hopefully. If caught out without a mask it is a $25.00 fine but they will first offer you a mask to wear instead of a fine. Glad I picked up an extra four boxes in Indy last weekend. They are just the surgical ones but will work fine. I'm still saving my N95 masks back for emergencies if I have to have a face to face meeting with someone. Like a doctor etc. I also have some cloth masks as a last resort. They feel pretty thin. I don't think I like them. There are 50 of them (two packs of 25) and they don't feel much thicker than tee shirt material. And I picked up one of those Buff type masks at Wal-Mart too. So with what I already had and what I got in Indiana, I'm good in the mask department. I have plenty of hand sanitizer from Indy now but I need to check to make sure it isn't recalled first. 3 Link to comment
Mt_Rider
CO took a couple of surges in certain categories in the past couple days. Still doing ok with hospital space - - the most important one, I think. But.... So much for the "HOT weather chases it out" theory.....which never made sense if you watched Australia during their summer, months ago. MtRider 1 2 Link to comment

ANewMe
Y’all this is disturbing https://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/20200707/lsquothings-are-not-getting-better--they-are-getting-worsersquo-fire-chief-says Palm Beach County children are showing long-term lung damage from COVID-19, two firefighters are in intensive care and hospital admissions, along with cases, are spiking, two top county officials said Tuesday, painting a grim picture of the continuing toll of pandemic. “Certainly, all indications are things are not getting better, they are not getting steady, they are getting worse,” Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Chief Reginald Duren told county commissioners, adding that 109 firefighters are in quarantine. “It’s not just because we’re testing more people,” she said. The rate shows the extent to which the virus is present in communities across the state, she said. “When we take X-rays of kids, even if they don’t have symptoms, there are changes in the lungs,” Alonso said. “We have no idea what the long-term damage will look like.” Further, one 2-year-old boy in the county has been diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome, a potentially fatal disease. Two 17-year-olds and a child under the age of 14 have died elsewhere in the state, health officials reported. Data shows that the virus is continuing to attack children. An eye-popping 29 percent of the 1,083 children under the age of 18 who have been tested in the county learned they have the disease, the health department reported. While the number of kids who have been tested is low, the increasing number of positive tests is cause for concern, Alonso said. “That’s a significant number of children who will have consquences down the pike,” she said. 4 Link to comment

Stuff them into my electronic filing cabinet under correct categories. More cuz I won't be able to find them again than the threat of them being taken down. But that would certainly be a good reason too. Yemen....1,356 Papua New Guinea....staying at 11 but I'm watching to see if they suddenly shoot up like Yemen did. Hope not cuz their population is smaller than Yemen, I think. MtRider Link to comment
Ambergris
Friend of mine's job for the past two weeks has included calling a guy every day to check on him. On Monday, he got his test.
