Swedish Torch ...various styles

Recommended Posts

I've never seen this concept before.  A "wood stove" of a different sort!  Another idea to tuck away in memory....JIC it might come in handy [or vital] some day???

Link didn't work. Is this the one?   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d617KVXfifs

Looks neat. I think I could manage the auger one. I'm afraid I'd end up with a whole lot of kindling if I tried the other two methods. Which isn't a bad thing in the end.

As a side note, he mentioned fat wood. I bought some at Wal-Mart about 10 years ago and it really works well. Since that first purchase I keep a basket full by the fireplace. 3-4 pieces of the fat wood sticks and some junk mail under a couple of logs, and a fire in the fireplace starts right up. It burns long enough for the logs to 'catch'.

Thanks for fixing the link, Jeepers!

Since you just set a hatchet head/blade on the log and tap with a mallet, there is more control than trying to swing with a enough force to split and enough ACCURACY...  :grinning-smiley-044:
