I have 2 food sealers. One I can use to seal canning jars for dry foods. But both use the sealing bags. I use them all the time. Great product.

The lever on the side of the device means that you don't have to use both hands simultaneously to close it and run it. It has a "removable" receptacle in the vacuum channel that is easy to remove and clean should it ever need it.

But, the best part I think, is that you can just use the heating element to create your own size bags, or double seal a bag (just for peace of mind). The company does say though that you should only create your own bags by sealing the top and/or the bottom of the bag and not the sides as they have a different seal that cannot be recreated at home. 

There is also a port on the top of the machine for hooking your device up to the jar sealers that they sell. You just have to make sure that you get the correct hose attachment for it: it is green on the end that connects to the vacuum sealer and gray on the end that connects to the jar sealer.

This is the one I have. I did not pay that much for it though! I got it on sale at Sam's Club over 5 years ago. It's hands free. You just stick your bag in and it does it's thing. That little round green thing acts as the cord for the jar sealer adapter thing and it also attaches onto a bowl you can buy to fast marinate food.
