Jeepers
My bank in Ohio was a dream. I only had one problem with them in 35 years I was there. They sold my mortgage to Bank of America right after I did a re-fi. Other than that they were perfect. In fact, the one I usually deal with has scheduled a phone call for the 18th. to renew a CD. Every perk they have was free to me. I was in there so much during my house fiasco, they all know me by name. To be fair it's a small branch. The nearest one over here is 30-40 minutes away. I don't care. I'm keeping it. Only thing I won't be able to do is the ATM. I plan to take out enough for a couple of months at a time. That way I'll only need to go a couple of times a year. I can do everything else online. As long as we have online. Indiana bank is just the opposit. They offer nothing and are no help. For 5 years they have not been able to store my pass words. Not online and not the debit card. Five years I've tried with them. I don't use a debit card and I didn't want one. But they don't offer a seperate ATM card. I tried to use the debit card once to set up an auto payment. It had expired. Darn thing expires after 2 years and you have to request a new one. Who knew. Everyone but me evidently. I would withdraw everything from them but they hold my mortgage and I'd have to redo my auto payments I have set up. After going through the move and all the change of addresses I'm still dealing with...I'm just not up to it right now. My mind is too cluttered with dates and numbers that I'd probably make a mistake. Maybe next year if I get to re-fi I'll pull everything. My luck as soon as I do that, the Ohio branch over here will close. 3 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
Getting things done can be a huge hassle. I still need to sit down and look for a better prescription plan. Hopefully next week I can get that done. They are coming tomorrow to set up my raised bed gardens. The rabbits are going to hate me next year. Hopefully they will move down to someone else's garden and leave mine alone. They even ate my flowers this past summer. My shoulder is killing me right now. Too much heavy lifting. Knee is tired feeling but not hurting. Got a lot done but you can't really tell it in the garage. Seems I make a bigger mess going through things and cleaning up and you then can't tell I have done anything. The mixed veggies are done and jarred up now. So that is out of the way till I go digging into the freezers again. I did find a bag of frozen squash so going to fry that up for dinner tomorrow. I am really working hard on those freezers. I decided instead of using the canned food I am working on the freezers for dinners and either canning or dehydrating. Hopefully they will be fully empty within a couple of months. I pulled out a bag of porkchops yesterday, and there were 3 in the bag. I only eat one. So, dinner for 3 nights. I cooked up some lima beans and had applesauce and called it dinner last night. tonight, I had porkchop, lima beans and some fried potatoes and onions. One more porkchop to go. I got a call today reminding me about my appointment on the 5th. I called and changed it till Jan. 6th. I am going to be going to spend a week with DD at Thanksgiving and we are getting together in Dec. to Christmas shop. So may be at her house again for a week or so. DD had her 2nd colonoscopy with the new doctor today and they got the polyp that the first doctor wanted to do radical surgery for. It was a pre cancer one and he was able to get all of it. No radical surgery was needed. So, she is good to go. That first doctor saw $$signs and it didn't work. Glad she got a second opinion. 6 Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
I rode M again today. Missing 2 wks while in MO....then riding Tues and again Friday (cuz it was available - and in off season, I take whatever I can get) ...well, it wiped me out! The ride was fine but oye. By the time we got home, I barely ate something and went back to bed. My very low back hurt...??? M does put the rider into a lot of motion - core muscles but end of spine pain? Dunno. I felt fine after a long nap. Haven't don't much else this evening except Hawaiian, call to mom. Call from MN friend woke me up or I might have woken up at midnight. Did not walk dog tonite but she had a walk in a regional park with DH while I rode. That animal can't be deprived cuz she's insistent when it comes to attention. Just catching up with news....and need to email my cousin. I've been wondering about her and her dd/family in FL after hurricanes. She didn't mention them so probably fine. Her brother has battled cancer for years and is ...at this time...caner free. That was kinda unexpected. His wife is so faithful; she writes a little note/letter to my mom weekly. My mom kept up correspondence with her sister's kids/their spouses for years....this cousin and brother and the rest. Me...I'm not good at anything except email and sometimes phone. And not too good at that in recent years. Read that a surfer lost his leg below the knee on Maui today. Shark attacks are rare there. They happen...and mostly sharks come in to feed at the outlet of streams into the ocean. Good feeding there... not usual leg-of-man. Well, if he can keep the knee joint, modern prosthesis will be an amazing option in this era. He's fortunate others were there to apply tourniquet quickly! MtRider for the peace of this nation....and Israel. 4 Quote Link to comment
themartianchick
Last night, I decided to place another grocery order to fill the last spaces in the deep freezer. I spent the morning cleaning Dad's house and then packaged the grocery order into freezer bags and put them away. Then I decided to make some meals for myself to get me through the next few days. Dad does not like my cooking because I use a lot of spices. He can't use much salt due to his health, hates garlic, despises herbs and any bits of onions or peppers in his food. He also won't eat cheese or any dairy products, except ice cream. He only likes bland, but salty food. Soo... I have been keeping the fridge stocked with lots of basic foods that he can cook for himself. While it is a relief to not have to cook for him, I haven't found much inspiration to cook for myself because he doesn't like the way that my food smells. I do have plenty of ingredients in his pantry and freezers, though. Today, I made one of my basic beans and rice recipes, cornbread, and unstuffed peppers. Dad just fell asleep, so I am about to go snooping through some of the uncharted areas of the house to see what I can find. This is a big old farmhouse and there are all kinds of old fashioned tools and other long-forgotten items. 6 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
My raised garden bed is in and not yet ready to go. I need a lot more garden soil. Don't even have enough to fill one box halfway. So going to get at least one box going to hopefully get a small winter garden going in one for now. Was just talking with my next-door neighbor a bit ago and she has a rat on her back porch again. Ate through the screen. Come to find out she has an attached garage that has been turned into a bedroom, but no air conditioning and it gets very hot in there. She had bags of rice and such sitting in the room still in the bags and had never stored them properly. The food was almost all gone from mice and rats eating it. She said our neighbor behind us was storing that stuff in their second garage also not air conditioned and most of it had been eating up by rats and mice. And She said the same thing is going on at the neighbor directly across the street from me. So, I am not a happy camper. I am going next door tomorrow to show her how to properly store food. If I don't, I might have the neighbors' little visitors over here though I do store everything in glass jars and in mylar in buckets. So now I will be going through my pantry to make darn sure I don't have anything going on. There have been a lot of complaints on the next-door app we have for several neighborhoods and many of them are raising Cain about mice and rats. Now I think I know why. No one is doing what they need to do. You can't by 5lbs of rice and just leave it sit. If you can't eat it that fast, then it needs to be storing it so you don't have issues with mice or rats. I hate mice and rats even more. The neighbor behind me said he stores rice and other foods in cabinets in garage for their parties. They love to throw weekend parties and cook outs. You still have to store that food properly or you are going to have issues. At least now I know why there is a rat issue in several neighborhoods. I am going to rest up the rest of today and then start back dehydrating and double checking my pantry to make sure nothing has been missed that I need to put in a jar. I have always been very careful about that. I also need to take a look in the attic tomorrow. Right now, my knee is a bit sore from putting heavy things back in the sheds. So, no climbing into attic tonight. And it is getting dark now so it can wait till tomorrow. Just want to make sure there isn't any eyeballs staring back at me after what my neighbor told me. Though I haven't seen any signs anywhere so far. This issue puts me on edge and on guard. Guess it's time to bring out the big guns against rats and mice. A good deterrent will do. At least, I hope. 4 Quote Link to comment
themartianchick
My parents always saved glass jars to use for storage. There are a lot of them here in boxes. I am not a big rice eater, but I do enjoy it from time to time. One of the reasons that I made beans and rice today was because there are a lot of jars of rice in this house that had to have been stored at least 6 years ago. We just found evidence of a mouse this morning. I've got a sticky trap with his name on it. We have heard lots of reports about mice and fleas this year. It just seems as though the conditions were perfect for all sorts of wildlife to breed. We had to treat the yards of 2 of our rental properties for fleas and we've never had to do that before. We think that the influx was caused by feral cats because our tenants don't have pets. Fleas can hitch a ride on your pant legs and enter your house. Ironically, the rentals that had fleas, have not had issues with mice. It seems that the feral cats are working overtime to keep the population down. Does anyone know if those high pitched sound emitters actually work? I'd love to have something that is an actual deterrent. I try to keep things clean here, but it is a 200 year old farmhouse. 5 Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
Oh good heavens, Little Sister. You're gonna have to hold a class...not at your house...on how to store that "little extra" that quite a few are starting to put back. For the sake of your confidentiality tho, hold the class at the neighbor's house. Tell them you learned good economic (and weather emergency) practices from your grandparents but also use modern methods. AS IN...no, I'm not one of those preppers who are stocked to the ceiling with food at my house. No, My Dear (Naive) Neighbors, you cannot store grains of any kind just sitting out in their bags. Oye! Y'all here have heard of our rodent issues thru the years and we always have sealed buckets, jars, etc. Dang ratfinks do chew on the edge of the lid of the bucket sometimes. I've capped our buckets with a plastic bag but have to tape that or they slither right under it. Helps with the DUST issue down there too. Introduce the neighbor ladies to glue boards!!! A lot of people don't want to touch and deal with a dead rodent in a snap trap....eeewwww! But with glue boards, you just pick up a glue board and mouse with longer handle pliers and toss it in the trash can. Done. If the glue boards are getting moved around (mouse half on/half off) use a circle of duct tape and stick it to the floor. Then you really need to pliers to get the thing loose from floor to toss. DO NOT TOSS GLUE BOARD WITH RODENT OUTSIDE..... You'll get a bird stuck to it while it was attempting to have rodent for dinner. AskMeHowIKnow The whole neighborhood needs extermination - but I'd hate to have the foul toxic spray guy come in. Then the rodents would come to your house. But the neighbor had the right idea - to purchase larger quantities. Good luck with your students, Little Sister! Tell them to pass on the information.... Martian... fleas.... Ugh. Second house we rented in Maui had fleas in the carpet. Tropics can be a real pain for vermin. Had to 'bomb' the critters and that took care of it. We didn't really use the yard there. And there was a 'junky yard' nearby.... ? As for the high frequency things for mice....we got one of them and I'm not sure they did any good. The glue traps have been very good tho. Sometimes we get 2-3 mice (especially if there are babies) Babies...Not ever a good sign. Whatever attractant they use on those glue things, is good. I think we use Black Cat brand. Have had others too tho. Ahem...just don't get stuck on those things yourself...clothes...shoe.... But if you do, cooking oil is supposed to release the grip. I think I tried it and it worked... Can't quite remember. MtRider ......SET BACK YOUR CLOCKS tonite. Edited November 3 by Mt_Rider 4 1 Quote Link to comment
themartianchick
Thanks @Mt_Rider! We buy bulk, Catchmaster glue traps in large and small sizes from Amazon. The small ones are what I used on last week's Asian beetle invasion. When a tenant complains about mice, the first thing we do is hand them a paper bag with an assortment of glue trap sizes. They usually do the trick. I just wish that there was more that I could do to keep them out of the apartments in the first place. My tenants are pretty clean. None of them have any small children anymore. In the past, the child of one tenant was sneaking his Christmas candy into his room to eat at bedtime. There was lots and lots of shredded foil from Hershey's kisses in strange places. NY State has a lot of rodents. NY City was looking for a Rat Czar to figure out how to control their rats and mice. Our city is on the list as one of the rattiest cities in the US. Some of the issue is the older housing stock within the city and the tremendous amount of construction that has been going on here in the last decade. Last year, we kept catching a family of what I think were moles inside our house. At dad's house we mostly catch house mice and the occasional field mouse. 5 Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
Ugh, I hate mice too. There was one in this house when I bought it. I saw 'evidence' where it had been. I freaked out. I figured where there is one there are a million. But I think I got very lucky. I only saw where it was in the kitchen and, oddly enough, in the washing machine. I got the Max Catch glue boards from Amazon. Four 72 pack boxes, one of those long reach grabbers and a small trash can with a lid. I was armed and dangerous. And I wasn't going to get near one. I set those traps all over the house. I didn't catch one mouse and I never saw any more evidence of one. I moved in and it moved out. It must have been a lone male that ran in while I was moving stuff in. I wonder about the electronic devices too. I just had a bad thought about all of my stuff stored in the second garage. Mice in there could be a huge issue. I'm in a country setting and the farmers have just harvested all of their fields. Mice are looking for new warmer homes right now. There could be food in there from the final move. I need to go out there today to check. 4 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
We have had mice here many years ago. The cats took care of it. DH went around the whole house filling any holes around pipes and such. Never had another issue with them. But Rats are a whole new ballgame. I do not want to deal with that issue. Next door neighbor hired a pest control to take care of it. And she is not a clean person anyway. I'm not perfect but that house is nasty. I am going to her house later today to teach her how to properly store her food. Don't want anyone at my house right now as I have things going on with decluttering and I do have a mess right now. But it is getting cleaned out. I had taken rice out of my freezer and had it sitting on the kitchen counter to dry out from freezer 4 days ago. Late last night I was jarring it up. I was going to let it sit another day but changed my mind after what I was told about the rats. I am tired today, but it was a late night. I fear that after this election we might all be having some late nights to deal with. But praying nothing happens. I am going to get those Max catch glue boards from Amazon. I hope I will never need them but better to have them and not need them than to have the issues and not have them. I was trying not to spend any money, but the traps are well worth spending a bit for just in case. 4 Quote Link to comment
out_of_the_ordinary
Neem oil worked well in getting rid of fleas in our yard. With my sensitivities, we have to be very cautious with what we use (even outside). 5 Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
Littlesister, it turned out I didn't need the glue traps but they were well worth the peace of mind. I finally picked up the last of them last week. I might replace some as a precaution for the rest of this month until it snows. I put down new ones every time I came over. After I mop the floor next week (it's still loaded down ) I'll put more down in the kitchen. Normally my house is clean. You wouldn't know it by looking at it right now though. I keep my bread in a metal bread box and the only food left on the counters might be some bananas. Oh, and an occasional bag of chips in the cabinet. The pantry could be an issue. Yikes. I need to check that as I go through it too. I'm sure it have dry mixes of stuff in there. I'm going to have to mylar, vacuum or get some small buckets to do a better job of food storage in there. 4 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
My neighbor called and I went over to her house with a case of 1/2 jars to get her started. She is having to dump just about everything. when you walk into her kitchen there is a door that leads to what was the garage. You have to go down 3 steps into the room. Before you get to that room, she has a laundry room with built in cabinets she keeps her food in. That is where the rats ate her food. She is in the process of cleaning all of it out and dumping everything. And cleaning out the cabinets. She is a very lazy lady, and I have known her for years. I sat her down and had a heart-to-heart talk with her. I explained to her if she hasn't been on the Nansemond app that lots of people are now having issues with rats and we are not talking about a couple of mice but rats and the damage they can and will do. I told her from what I am hearing that people are stocking up and getting ready for what might happen after this election. She was storing a lot of food and got caught with her pants down sort of speak. Buy it throw it in the cabinet and forget about it. Nope doesn't work that way and you are asking for trouble. Those boxes of food she showed me were eating through and the rats had a field day. Unless it was canned food, she has nothing to see her through an emergency. I also told her that any glass jar she buys from the store such as spaghetti sauce or whatever, if it's a glass jar to wash it and save it. It will come in handy. I also explained the buckets to her and why that is important. I am going to take her out so she can buy and resupply her food later this evening. Then we are going to have a lesson in how to properly store that food to keep from drawing rats. And she has 2 dead rats in her back yard right now. The poison the pest control put out worked. But don't know if there are any others and she refuses to go out on her back porch where they chewed the screen out to come in. But I am glad there are at least 2 dead ones. At least those won't make it into my house. I have been very careful about keeping food out and not storing it in the cabinets properly. I guess it is paying off as so far, I don't have that issue. And I don't want it either. 4 Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
@Littlesister That is very nice of you to try to help her. I hope she cleans up her act...for both of your sakes! 🐀 I got all of the bacon in the freezer cooked. I now have some beautiful bacon grease. I've read it's called 'drippings' by the fancy folk. I have a can that looks to be a pint. It's almost full. I love bacon but the house really smells bad. Like an old greasy spoon restaurant and not bacony. I babysat last night and was able to take them a plate full of bacon. I still have a bunch to freeze for myself and I'm going to use the 'well done' ones for bacon crumbles. I'll freeze those too. I'm baconed out. I got the surprise of my life last night. DIL mentioned wanting to go to Costco before the election to stock up a little in case things get 'restless'. Oh lawsy, that was music to my ears. We had planned to go soon but when she mentioned the election I was surprised. She is not a prepper type. She mentioned going today or tomorrow. I said tomorrow, Monday. I have a feeling today, Sunday, it would be packed. They are always busy anyway. So tomorrow I'm going shopping! Today I found my small canner so this week I'll be freezer cooking. Also no food in the 2nd garage to worry about rodents. There was just a couple of boxes of angel hair pasta and a box of popcorn out there. I found a small cart thing still in the box. I can put it together to store some kitchen appliances out of my way. Not sure where to put it either. I really need to get the big mixer out of the kitchen. I never use it. I need to get my kitchen counter tops cleared off so I can cook without moving stuff around. I went through some of my medical stuff in the spare room. Oh boy. It's a hot mess that I'm not sure how to handle. I'm pretty sure there is more in another room. I think I'm going to store some of it in the hall closet. Boo-boo stuff like bactine, peroxide and bandaids etc. The rest will have to go in totes. Either stacked in a closet or in under bed totes. I need a medicine closet. And more totes. The rest of the day I'm going to lay my back on the heating pad and watch the rain and listen to Old Time Radio shows. 6 Quote Link to comment
Becca_Anne
That's great Jeepers glad your DIL is becoming more aware. Littlesister I hope the rats stay away! And good for you for helping your neighbor that should hopefully reduce the chances of them ending up at your house. I've caught 5 adult mice in my traps and no more this week but I'll keep them set. I use these and they are really nice they are super easy to reset and I haven't once accidently set one off .https://www.amazon.com/Victor-M123SSR-6-Pack-Quick-Kill-Mouse/dp/B09LDHP97G/ref=sr_1_5_pp?crid=1AND4LD6F7WXZ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9._lCE_mU9sE1drgHi6RXyoOL9VuoHoby0wHUMzSR5zTf1hxVftZvv9gBcJxTRoSWEMdm3tdMq6NbpM61Z7pokv4kR8N4gj56i9xtlYIbs4qEbPNF3rFKexzTVtHwO7ybfCig2MHSU9filUoA56OSe0BVYwVN0PSMUApmnvMxLv60_2j-vyqZuAWbJyisaRgt52rAOn3cAxT9TmQ9dtbCG-Wv7DZYKtfv68NzXbVUAG1wtS1NXDOzfHFuTni3tUjQ950DHkLcRWNV2hD5AVsIJfdxWufnDgsVsugMwt4tRl4g.Qnfd_JlP-SjhW-xMRARqzmD7d3BXvnEHBBKPoHU7nFg&dib_tag=se&keywords=mousetraps&qid=1730667015&sprefix=mousetraps%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-5&th=1 6 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
Becca Anne, I might like that idea better than the sticky strips. At least they would be dead. I am hoping I won't have an issue but this rat thing being at 3 houses right here around me got me a bit concerned. People are now saying we have an infestation of rats. This has never happened before and from what my neighbor said it sounds like a lot of people in a few neighborhoods including mine woke up. But they didn't learn how to store the food to keep rodents out. I guess roaches will be the next issue if people don't learn some common sense. I had one bottom corner cabinet in kitchen that I never got around to cleaning that one out yet. It was all food, but everything was in glass or plastic containers, and all was good. I took everything out of it and wiped down the shelves and such. They are revolving shelves, and I am thinking about a better use for that cabinet than food. I have plenty of room in the upper cabinets for that food. It is food I use almost daily. I have been little by little cleaning out and reorganizing my kitchen cabinets between other things going on. This was the last cabinet so now that is all done. Tomorrow I will get clothes washed and do some general cleaning where I have pulled things out to go through. Might start on the windows tomorrow depending on weather. 4 Quote Link to comment

I like the idea of having a reusable solution. Hubby prefers the snap traps, but the newer ones aren't made the way they used to be. Though we buy glue traps in bulk, they could eventually run out nad we'd have almost nothing else to use. 3 Quote Link to comment
themartianchick
I spent today washing curtains, dusting and cooking for Dad. I am trying to get ready for the holidays a little at a time. If there is any civil unrest and power is lost, I won't be able to wash curtains effectively. I also cleaned out a couple of tall, pantry-style cabinets in the kitchen. Yesterday, I spent about 20 minutes in some of the rooms that Dad uses for storage. They were surprisingly more organized than I would have thought. (That just means that my Mom organized them when she was still able-bodied and Dad never touched them!) Each room had a theme: One was full of books, toys and puzzles. Another room was full of furniture and a third had lots of useful things. I found our old clothes drying rack. It was an antique when I was a child and appears to still be in good condition. There are 3 complete beds with the mattresses encased in plastic. The beds were a nice surprise because that expands the number of people who can sleep here. They are left over from when I moved out and when my parents got new bedroom furniture. I don't think that they ever threw out anything that could be reused. They used to hold an annual yard sale until about 10 years ago. That helped to keep things from getting too cluttered. That area of the house has always been kept kind of closed off. The rooms have slanted ceilings and the rest of the house had plenty of room without using them. 8 Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
Good for you, Little Sister. I know it's self-defense but training your neighbor so she KNOWS how to protect herself from rodents AND .... Oh yeah, I forgot that DH got us a couple of those new "snap traps" too, Becca Anne. MUCH easier to set and can dump the mouse and reuse easier. ALSO we're using these ....and the brand name is Tomcat (not Black Cat....altho there is a black cat on the box LOL ) poison boxes. I would NOT recommend for homes with children. Not sure about other pets but we've used it under a bed with STUFF in front of it. Our dogs have been too large to get at it. It's a plastic box maze with a block of poison. Pray that the mice do not die in the walls or somewhere inaccessible ... And if you have pets - think about their safety if they eat the dead mouse. It's not supposed to poison the second animal but .... I never used these upstairs while I had a cat up here. But it does help to clear them out! https://www.amazon.com/Tomcat-Killer-Disposable-Station-Outdoor/dp/B01MT1XQZS/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3OJCT74ZQER18&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.mYp89T9opd8yU8JvACk2uCK9Az_Z6EGY26A5_Y9PmMADw-uGHF-XSiyNOVkHi1JX5jvV5RoI20sd7LQDITcZYmRus7yLZLJWIykAj594BncJBuasLWUvNuM2ZX1FYjSd3LJxuTViwFP2Ue7Z591HJxDmcXqNdi7fuUnoPNN2_Z2EPM1Hbv_smLPuxDZS_XcRsDsBiP41zcc7X02U0bcy6_XifZOhZ-pnpCFWEsJHsTAbfFclxll0cOrTjPzcWmoQN0O2-IFOr0GHiN4qU8FUtZbwjsH0T0VQ6aACLBsnVcM.Ut9gALXA9vFbK_sdYinE0kg-pJjeFD12fsGVu5rwf8g&dib_tag=se&keywords=mouse+poison+boxes&qid=1730700630&sprefix=mouse+poison+boxes%2Caps%2C802&sr=8-1 Also catching an occasional mouse in the basement with my Bucket o Death. 5 gal bucket and drill holes to put a small dowel across the top of the bucket. Leave a bit of the dowel sticking out one side where you will set something to act as a ramp. Drill a hole in the bottom and thru the lid of empty plastic soda bottle - single size. The hole needs to be able to spin. Plaster some peanut butter around the plastic bottle. Fill bucket with enough water that the mouse will drown fairly quickly. Or leave it dry and dump the mice somewhere but I'm not taking any prisoners! MtRider ....not that I wish it on y'all but ....I'm glad we're not the only RuralCabinInWoods to have mice/rats. Good luck!! 2 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
I have probably gotten rid of a lot of things that I might be able to use now if things happen from this election. But I had no need for any of it at the time. I still have to buy a couch and get a bed for the front bedroom. Just a twin bed or something for the GGB before she is out of the crib. I figure I have at least till the end of January. The new baby is due the first of March. My neighbor never called me to go to the store this evening. I figure she just isn't going to prepare and get some food in the house, or she is in denial of anything that's going to happen. So, I am not going to worry about it. She will either get her act together now or she will just do nothing. Either way I have things to get done tomorrow and I don't have time to wait to see if she wants a ride to the store. She does have children that don't do much to help her with anything. And a 26-year-old GS that won't help do anything. He's too busy playing games and locks himself in his room after work and weekends. He doesn't go anywhere or do anything outside of video games. There is going to be a huge awakening over there if the lights go out. I need to get some garden soil, and I hope I can find some cheap. No sales that I've seen this time of year. I want to get at least one raised bed done to plant a few things through the winter months. MartinChick, it sounds like you have your dad about set up and found a gold might as well. All that stuff will more than likely come in handy if anyone plans to stay at your dad's house if things happen. Tomorrow night at 6:30 our church is getting together to pray for our country and this election. So, I will be with them tomorrow night. I think it will be for either one or two hours. 2 Quote Link to comment
snapshotmiki
I woke up at 3:30 and can't get back to sleep. Will walk first. Start laundry Take friend to local clinic for appointment. Dehydrate sweet potatoes for dogs. Make Creamy Cajun chicken pasta soup. Finish laundry. You all seem so much busier than I am and I can hardly keep up! 3 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
Miki, you seem to stay very busy to me. I am staying so busy because when my GS was living here, I got nothing much done that needed to be done due to his working nights and sleeping days. Plus, the fact I had so much to pack up for the remodel and construction. And then going through things and downsizing it all got so overwhelming. But now that GS is out of the house, I am getting a lot done. I will take tomorrow to call about prescription drug plans after I go to vote. Then head over around 2pm to keep my GGD so my DGD and her DH can go vote. They don't want to take the baby with them. Then I will come back and get some things put away that is sitting on my kitchen counter. Getting ready to head out to Big Lots soon, they are going out of business, and I want to see what they have. Seems they are moving things from other stores to the store closes to me so will see what all is going on with that. Hopefully I can find some useful things. If not it's not a totally wasted trip, there are both Lowe's and Home Depot, Sam's Club and B'J's wholesale all right in the same area along with a bigger Aldi's. 4 Quote Link to comment

Jeepers
We2's my S.F. agents are local too. The one in Ohio was about a block from me. But 'like a good neighbor' he wasn't there. And the one over here in town is a screw up too evidently. 1 2 Quote Link to comment
