Watcha doing today?

Recommended Posts

@Mt_Rider, was it a new snow plow guy or the one you know who kept not showing up?  Glad you got some sleep and a good meal, yesterday!

Got up early, will do a walking video. Too cold and windy to walk.
Will take friend shopping locally. Shouldn't be gone long.
Dehydrate sweet potatoes for dog treats.
Vacuum seal pecans in smaller bags.
Rest!

Littlesister hope you start feeling better soon. I discovered the reason I got Bronchitis every year around Christmas was I was highly allergic to evergreen trees, and it was inflaming my airways and creating lots of mucus  which then set me up for getting sick every year. :mornincoffee: Once the allergist told me then I switched to artificial Christmas trees and I've not had that happen since! Any chance you have a real tree up? I usually use Mucinex which helps thin the secretions and cough it out easier. Lots of fluids, REST and feel better soon :hug3:

We had a nice holiday meal. I was on my feet almost all day but it turned out great and we've cleaned up and I'm ready to move on to putting up my trees :santa:

@Littlesister. Bronchitis. I never thought about that. When I had my worst coughing gagging spells was when I had bronchitis. I had forgotten, but that's what I had. I never ever had it before I got covid. After that I got bronchitis twice. I assume the C-19 weakened my lungs? Or it could have been the moldy house, post flood. I've had it two years in a row now. That blasted cough seemed to hang on forever. That's what I had when I about lost it in the grocery store that time I mentioned in a previous post. The throat tickle was what made me gag. That and the thick spit (trying to avoid the M word). Ricola did help a lot. I had to go to the doctor and he gave me something called 'perels'. I thought he was saying 'pearls'.  Little tiny pellets. To be honest, by the time I went to the doctor, the Ricola was working so I didn't take the little pills. I still have them though. Just in case.

I hope you are feeling much better by now! Plenty of liquids and some zinc and Vit. C and a supply of ricola on hand. And get some REST! :hug3:

BTW, I'm not sponsored by ricola. :grinning-smiley-044:   I'm just passing along what might help.

Jeepers, that cough will linger forever. It has been years since I had bronchitis. I am using both Mucinex and Ricola.  Plus, now I am using a saline solution to help clear things out. and all the vits. you mentioned.  I just hope and pray it all gets rid of this cough.

Becca Anne, I have never had a live Christmas tree because of DDH's asthma.  And then when my DD was in her late teens, she developed asthma. She was taken classes for lifeguard, and it was indoor classes because of wintertime.  The chlorine got her, and she couldn't swim across the pool. So, she had to drop out. That was when I took her to the doctor and found out she has asthma also. So, I have always had artificial trees. I can't be sure but one of my neighbors and I went to the Christmas outdoor bazar. There was every type of smell from soaps, lotions, live Christmas wreaths, you name it. That was a huge mix of different smells. This neighbor is very sensitive to a lot of smells and only uses and cleans with things that don't have any scents in them.  I came down sick the next night and she is now sick also. I talked with her this morning, and she has been sick for about 3 days. She is sounding like I did a couple of days after I got sick. But can't say if Her's is bronchitis or a cold.

We are having a cold front coming in soon and so I went outside to shed and pulled all that mess that GS left piled up at the door. Got the ladder in there and made my way up to the loft and got down all the Christmas boxes. I will be going through a lot of that and giving it to the kids if they want it. Otherwise, I think I know of a needy family that could use it. Do to the changing around of my house and no longer having a fireplace mantle due to the wood stove instead, I have garland and things that maybe this family can use. I am going to box that up for her friend to pick up for her later.  I think she has 3 little ones with the youngest being a year old. Friends of Her's has helped her to get a place to live they could afford but not much money to live on after rent. Everyone on the Next-door app is collecting things for them. I can't remember the story about what happened, but it seems that her DH passed away or something else. But seems there is no father involved. So, think it might be that her DH passed on and I believe it was before the last baby was born. Something about car accident if I remember it correctly.  Her children are 1, 3, and 4 years old. So, we might all get together to help her out with Christmas gifts for the children.

My garden soil is coming today by FED-X.  And speak of the devil. He just delivered 3 of them. So, I ran out the door before he got off the truck. He put them on the patio near the boxes for me. He is meeting with another truck and will be bringing the other 3 bags later. But I won't have to run outside for that. He said he will put them with the first 3 bags. It is not going to be near enough even with the 6 bags I already have. I need to find someone that can deliver by the truck load. I am going to talk with a neighbor down the street to see if he knows where any off those garden places are that deliver soil. Since my 2 sources I used to use have gone out of business.

It's getting colder outside now, and I still need to bring up more firewood. Might wait till tomorrow for that. I need to bring in what is in garage now and put air in the tires of the wood holder I use to bring wood back and forth. The weight of the wood on it seems to flatten those tires. But it works great for me. I can roll up a lot of wood on that plus use the wheelbarrow if needed.

You seem to be feeling somewhat better. Hope it all passes soon! Sounds like you are doing all of the right things. Sometimes ya just have to wait it out. Sigh.  :hug3:

It has been cloudy and overcast all day here. Now it's nearly dark out so it's been super gloomy all day.

I have to make a run to the crazy post office again. I have what I hope will be the final bills to mail. Also I got a bill from the PA toll road. Only took 6 weeks. I'm not sure how they found me as my car is still registered in Ohio and it came directly to this address. Not forwarded. I was traveling over there for 5 days so there might be more bills from them coming. No big deal. I know I owe it. I just want to get it all paid with no surprises in the mail. Penalty for not paying on time looks pretty serious.

Jeepers, I do feel better, but I am on day 3 of z-pack and still coughing up deep yellow. So, infection is still there. I think if this deep choking cough would just go away, I would be home free. Maybe not fully over it but so much better if I can get rid of the cough.

I am supposed to go with family to Cracker Barrel tomorrow for Thanksgiving. I just hope I don't do one of those choking coughs that won't stop. I will be prepared for it though before I leave. Cough syrup and such. Cough drops in pocket, etc.

Jeepers, you just reminded me I also have some bills to pay and then head to post office in morning before the kids get here.  I will have them ready to go tonight. Not that much to do.

need to finish reloading the dishwasher. I have some 1/2 gal. jars I found in shed and need to wash them before I can use them. I also need to throw a blanket or something over DD's and SIL's Christmas gift that is sitting in the den. Don't want them to see it. It is the outdoor pizza oven that does much more than pizza. You can do a rotisserie chicken in it also.  DD refused to prepare for what may happen and their house is total electric.  So at least they will be able to cook if they lose electricity. I do have a way of slipping things in on them and they don't even know it. But they love what I give them. The little indoor grill gets a workout at her house. They love it. That was last year's gift.

Are you guys ready for this?  Thanksgiving has passed. We were all supposed to get together tomorrow for dinner at Cracker Barrel to celebrate Thanksgiving. Turns out DGD is sick but went to her in-law's house for Thanksgiving anyway. Baby was just getting over a cold the day I went to her house to babysit. I was having to wipe the baby's nose a lot. She hates that but she had one runny nose. Now DGD that also just got over a cold has the green gobs of mess. DD came down this weekend anyway as DGD didn't tell her she was sick and was cancelling for tomorrow. So, I guess we shoot for Christmas. Which is at my house. DD is taken the baby and coming to my house tomorrow to go shopping and get lunch. My SIL is going to head to his parents' house to visit with them for a while. I hope he still has the code to get into house later. I will need to make sure. He visits with them and then comes to my house and watches TV and gets him something to drink till we get back. DGD's DH is going to his parents' house tomorrow to spend more time with his grandparents before they head back home. Here I am trying hard not to spread these germs around to others and they are spreading them throughout both families. Not a good scenario for Christmas. Everyone will be sick. I will need to double up on my vitamins and anything else I can think of.  Mask. I hate those. But I don't want their mess either. My DGD needs to learn when you are sick do not take that around the elderly. Her DH's parents are in their late 70's, and they don't need it either. Kids don't understand that this type of illness is harder on the elderly than younger people. My daughter is in her 50's and still having to make a decision on which way to go with the colon cancer even if it seems they got all of that polyp. It's not good on her either. These young ones don't think or just don't care. I don't know which it is.

Got the bills done and just need to take to post office in the morning. So that is out of the way. Finally found out they are delivering the rest of my garden soil tomorrow also. I will have 12-40lb bags, and I think that will only fill one and maybe part of another raised bed. Hard to judge that type of thing.

Kitchen is clean other than some things I need to put away.  I'm tired and going to bed soon. I did good today for not a lot of energy. No nap. And got all the Christmas stuff out of shed and into the garage for now.

Tuesday I got the tree put up, but couldn’t get the lights to work, so gave up and left all that mess sit in the living room and started a batch of chicken broth. That got 4 ziplocks out of the refrigerator freezer. :happy0203:

Wednesday I finally got one strand of lights to work, put them and the garland on the tree and threw the second set of lights in the trash. Got all my wrapping stuff out and now that’s sitting all over the living room.

Yesterday I sat and watched the parade and football all day and crocheted tops on about 30 towels. :pout:

Today I canned the chicken broth. Had extra room in the canner, so tossed in a couple pints of carrots. Another bag out of the freezer. Made catfish and premade fried green tomatoes for dinner— another 2 bags out of the freezer. :cele:

Tomorrow I’m cutting up and grinding a deer. DS1 and mom are bringing it down. They’re gonna help. :baseballbat: It’s only taken two weeks to get it this far! <_<

ETA: None of this stuff was on my list... so I still don’t get to cross anything off. Maybe I should just write it down anyhow, just so I can put a line through it. :bounce:

We had a simple, quiet Thanksgiving.

I was ill about 3 weeks ago. It was a feeling like I never felt before. Constant belly ache and messed with me mentally. Lasted about a week and a half. I'm guessing covid??? In these past 4 years I never had it. No jab either.

Did a little online shopping today.  I got 2 bras from Hanes for just under $22 for 2. I really like their products.

I am doing Christmas gift swaps with an online friend, my daughter and my sister. None of them live nearby. It's a lot of fun.

Our dog got loose today. The Amazon driver left the gate open. I guess we are going to have to put up  a sign. He was a little ways down the road but dh got him back before it was dark. Our dog is an indoor dog. I don't think he would've liked being outside all night. It was already in the 20s at the time.

I will probably be putting up the Christmas tree tomorrow or Sunday.

I did put out a few decorations today. My dd sent me some LED candles. I love them in my window.

Youngest dd and I will probably be making snickerdoodles tomorrow and maybe some Chex mix, too. I'm going to enjoy December, Christmas and making memories. I start my diet in January! :😜

:whistling:   I've been known to do that.  Ahem....cuz then it's recorded that it's done!  Right?

Oye....our temperatures at night - DH saw MINUS 15* one night.  I saw 0*  at 1 am one night.  It's 11:30pm and already about 3* above zero.  :frozen:

I'm really FRUSTRATED !   Or MAD or ..... EXASPERATED!!!  :gaah:   We got 6" of snow a couple days ago and the regular guy showed up.  He left an area unplowed that would fit 2 of my trucks.  That IS the area I'd planned to put my truck.  I never leave it down by the road.  The plowing in the driveway is narrow.  I minced my way down with the dog tonite.  I haven't walked in several days - which is highly unusual for me.  I may have to start riding down with DH in the car...as well as dog and I riding UP.  Not safe to walk on the mashed-down snow.  Even with the Yax Trax things, which I don't want to mess with.  I do not understand what's going on with this guy we've had for several years!  <_<   Hmph!

AND.... I'm just not feeling ..... ? quite right ?  But then, my sleeping is all messed up again.  Been sleeping 5am to 11 or 12 noon.   Not enough and not at the right hours.  However, last nite as I lay there...alllllmost asleep but not....I came out to take a half Unisom.  Shoots!  I've been sleeping well without that.  But then I was thrashing around and finally realized I must be taking the muscle relaxant too early with evening pills.  So I'm waiting til later tonite.  Could be the cause of "thrashing around".  Spasticity.  Hmph!  'Nuff of that!

Becca Anne - glad you discovered your health issue with live tree in the house!

Bronchitis - If I'm gonna be "sick"....eventually it will end up in bronchitis.  Formerly, about once a decade - and mine gets pretty intense....( Ahem...by the time I go in to ask for help.)  :busted:    Yeah, those little clear gold pills for coughing.  I've had them a few times now and, odd as they are, they do seem to help.  I accept them even if I'm not coughing ..yet.  But Ricola is my standby.  I always have a Lifesaver peppermint, a Ricola, and Burt's Bees lip balm in my pockets.  In fact I'll put the balm on any minor cuts too.    all of you (Little Sister and whole family! ) will get well and will be passing around Christmas presents instead of germs!)

Blessed.... I don't remember stomach pain as a symptom of The C.  Seems odd but glad you finally beat it.  I've never had the C or the shots either tho DH definitely had C ..with the after affects being the whole body rash.  Iver mec and hydrox....  is what gave him relief.  He was very ill.  Good to have handy.  The whole packet of admonitions from Big Pharm was LIES4PROFIT...which is becoming apparent to all now.  Which means those lying ....are responsible for WAY more deaths/disabilities than would have happened.  Profit over Life = EVIL

Hmph....I'm not in a "settled" mood tonite.  Still trying to figure out how to clear the driveway better - without sending my back into spasm. Again.  Need to find a new snowplow person.  Otherwise I'm feeling claustrophobic.... This much snow piled up and it's not even December!  We have huge snowfalls in May!!!  :runcirclsmiley2:

Mt. Rider don't know what is going on with your snow guy but sounds like a new one is in desperate need.   VA is getting a lot of snow in the Northern area of VA. They can have it. But it's not getting out of the 40's today.

Hope you start feeling better and getting your sleep schedule back on track. Those pearls are great for a cough that comes with Bronchitis. I've had them before and could use them now but haven't gone to a doctor. Figure I am getting better anyway, and I just need to fight off the cough. That is doing better as well since yesterday but still having those bouts of deep coughing.

Blessed homemaker, glad you are over your illness.  This is the season for illness. I'm done for the year and next year as well.

DD again changed her plans for us to go shopping. She came in last night and said she and the baby were coming by and take me to go shopping and get lunch. Not sure when she was planning to tell me, but when I didn't hear from her this morning, I texted her. Nope not going shopping or to lunch. She told me she will be down in a couple of weeks when everyone is well. Ok that plan will go by the wayside as well so I just told her I will see her on Christmas day, and I am not changing my plans and if she decides to change plans on me for Christmas then she can do that, but Christmas day is going full force at my house and on Christmas day. Thanksgiving totally got skipped over this year and I am not playing that changing of plans to suit DD's needs any longer. It's not all about her and what she wants, and she needs to learn that. No one can work with her when she keeps changing things up at the last minute. It makes everyone else's life miserable trying to get things changed around at the last minute. And especially when you are cooking for that holiday. I'm done. Changes are coming for next year. DD is heading home tomorrow. So, I won't see her this time around.

I am rerouting my day. Late plans. Went to post office early to drop off bills.  Getting ready to put up the Christmas tree soon. Just need to figure out where I want to put it since I have changed the front part of the house around as different rooms now. Will still be in living room, but not sure where in there yet. Can't put it in the center of the picture window so might be that corner at the end of the picture window. I have done that before, and it looked good. It's a new tree so will need to sit for a day or two to help the limbs to fall out some.

I have a lot of Christmas things to go through that I know I won't use anymore. So will be going through all those boxes today and tomorrow. I still need to make the curtains for the main bathroom window. Need to take measurements first as that window so I found out during construction it is not level. They had to lower the towel bar under it to make it look even. Something I had never noticed till the old towel bar was taken out. So will need to hem them accordingly so they will be even at the bottom and top. Such fun facts to deal with.

I'm glad that you are putting your foot down about Holiday plans @Littlesister.  That will make life easier for you and probably others in the family.

@blessedhomemaker71, I'm glad that you are feeling better now!

It will be good when the (kind of) surprise bills stop showing up @Jeepers.

@Necie, If I do a job, I add it to my list and mark it off.  I want credit for it!  LOL

Already picked up trash by road at Church and went for a haircut.
Next will walk dogs and maybe myself.
Label ebay folders.
Put away sweet potato chips that I made, yesterday.
Maybe a pedicure tonight.

Yep. I've been known to add a completed task to my to-do list after it's done. I tell myself it's because I want to be sure I did it. I'm just keeping track of what needed done. Would be a shame to do the job twice. And by golly, I want the visual credit.

I have got to do something about my sleep pattern. I get my 8 hours, but they are in 2 hour increments throughout the day. It's even worse now that it gets dark at night by 4:30. Sometime yesterday I woke up and it was 6 o'clock. I was so confused. I didn't know if it was AM or PM. because it was dark out. And I couldn't figure it out. Sigh. Right at that time son called. I didn't know if he wanted me to come babysit or what was going on. I didn't even know what day it was. I couldn't get that straight either. I had to ask son what day it was and if it was AM or PM. It was Friday evening. I have a day clock but it is in the other room and I was still in bed trying to figure it all out when he called. And my phone doesn't display AM or PM. Just the time. Going on military time would just add to the confusion. Numbers are not my friend. So tonight, come hell or high water, I'm taking the ambien. I'm losing days and keep getting confused. It's ridiculous.

Another issue with it, while I'm complaining, is I'll wake up in the evening, after I got my nap out, and it will be too near bedtime to take an ambien so I miss that window of opportunity. I don't want to waste the precious pills. I had to fight tooth and nail to get them and a new doctor might not want to give them to me. So I ration them until I'm sure I can get my 'supply' met. And along those lines, I miss taking my regular meds. I sleep through the dosage. 'Someone' is a hot mess. :hi:

I'll probably go babysit, and then come home and get my act together. Assuming this is really Saturday.

Speaking of lists, I am going to order a calendar of seasonal tasks to do. That has to be done. @Mother what did you call that type of calendar? I saw where Amazon had some but I forgot to pick one out and order it and now I  can't remember what you called it. What re-jogged my memory is I just remembered that it's time to change the furnace filter. That should be done in the months of November and June. Furnace and AC. Should filters be changed more than once in the winter? I don't know. And it's time to feed the septic tank. I'm sure some food went down there while I was freezer cooking. I do a drop-in every other month. Squirrel...

I did remember to get my trash out a day later because of the holiday. Trash company actually called me on Wednesday. ❤️  That was a big help as I wasn't sure. I'm really liking that big wheelie bin! Simple pleasures in life.

Bronchitis

Several years ago, hubby had a bout with that stuff.  I bought one of those small electric inhaler things, had him breath into it several times a day, and used mentholatum on a makeup pad, and it did the trick.  We lost track of the original one in the move, so we bought another one last week...expensive...but a must.  We also put a humidifier in our bedroom, on his night stand to put moisture in the air where he sleeps.  He has a dickens of a time with dry mouth and uses a dry mouth liquid every night.  Just works for us.

Went to our monthly community breakfast and drove home in the snow.  So far, about 2 inches.

We had Thanksgiving at the same community congregation, but I put a small ham in my crockpot, and then fixed some dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a salad.  Just finished up the last of the ham for lunch today...our bellies were still full of breakfast at the community breakfast! LOL

Hubby and I both put away fall clothes and unearthed winter...coats, sweaters, turtle neck shirts, leggings for sleep and insulated thermal tops for sleep.  We turn the temp down to 68 at night, so we sleep "cozy" and then when we get up in the am, I kick up the temp to 75.  Abby girl's bed is on my side of the bed and a vent right near...so we get the most warmth.  Hubby has to snuggle if he gets cold!

The tree is now up but had trouble with the lights. SIL was at his parents' house which is right around the corner from me.  So, I texted him and asked if he would stop by to help me figure them out before going back to GD's house. He got those working and then just hung around house for a bit. Don't think he wanted to go back to a house full of sick kids. Can't say I blame him. I did find out that GS's girlfriend has been coming to the house. So just like I thought was going on, DD had Thanksgiving at home and GS didn't want me there with his girlfriend. Not my issue. And his parents as usual caved into him. His girlfriend stays over there for hours. So was the reason DD didn't want me to stay there for a week. I can ignore them and let them do their thing. My plan was to spend a week off of my knee and catch up on reading while DD worked. But I have a feeling that GS and his girlfriend would feel uncomfortable after what they tried to pull on me and is the reason they didn't want me there. I could care less. They did what they did and it's on them and not me. He is my GS, and I love him, but I just can't tolerate his behavior.  It would not have bothered me in the least being there with them. But I am thinking about how he will be next year if the mess starts, and I just show up unannounced at DD's house. That child has gotten his way so much that he knows just how to manipulate his parents. It has never worked with me, nor my DH and I am not about to let him start that up with me either. If he wants to make his amends that is fine. If his mother wants to continue to keep me away from her house while he and his girlfriend are there that's fine to and it won't be my loss. Guess I am just tired of his mess. But on the bright side things will be different.  DD and GS can do whatever, but I am not going down with them every time DD changes plans on me. This year has been ridiculous to say the least. Ok I am done ranting. Doesn't do any good anyway. But it is off my shoulder.  SIL did say GS likes his job, but he also said he has liked all of them in the beginning and he gives him 6 months before trouble starts. Coming from SIL that is a mouth full. It has been every job and that has been many, that 6 months later he's finding fought with the job and ends up fired. Only problem is this time it will be his dad firing him. Then the trouble begins. If they kick him out of the house I will block his number. He's not coming back.

And yes, I still love my GS. He just needs to grow up. At 24 years old you would think.

While my SIL was here. He showed me how to take my firearm apart to clean it. That was not easy for me to figure out. But my DD has the same one and he cleans hers. So, he showed me how and once I saw what to do it will be easy to both take apart and put back together.  I don't own a 12 gage but found a lot of shells. Gave those to SIL and he is a happy camper. He said he wants to go hunting but seeing how he is having hip issues I hope it's not going to lead to surgery. He's having a lot of pain in his hip and back. He always carries when he goes anywhere. And his holster was killing his hip. I found a belt type holder that goes around the waist like a belt that holds them. He tried it and loved it. He said it didn't bother his hip or back at all. So, I gave him that also. Just another way of downsizing what you can't use. Yep, pawn it off on kids when you can. At least I know what I gave him will be put to good use.

Nice cut, @snapshotmiki! I'm not sure that I've combed my hair since Turkey Day... :008Laughing:I definitely have not set foot outside.

Today was another lazy day of watching Amazon Prime (Balthazar) in French and with subtitles. French is not one of my strong suits. Hubby waited until 11pm last night to start another remodeling project. Yep... hammering and sawing ensued just as I was about to go to bed. I may have to go back to dad's house to get some sleep. My last box of canning jars was delivered today and (of course) one jar was broken into smithereens. I need to alert Walmart so I can get a refund.

@snapshotmiki, you’re beautiful! Love the cut. I just wear mine in a messy-bun ponytail. Can’t stand hair in my face or hanging down on my neck. 🥴

@Mt_Rider, maybe a good discussion with the snowplow guy is due? It just seems very odd that he’s always done a good job and just last year and this year that he’s doing less. Maybe he needs to raise the rate a bit and just isn’t saying so. Or maybe he just needs reminded of what needs done and why. If nothing else, a convo might supply some clarity of what’s going on.

Got the deer done. What a mess. BIG doe, but DS2’s first shot wasn’t good... she’d turned and it hit her hind end and put her down. He said that he knew as soon as it hit her and he jumped right down and finished with a head shot. He felt bad. 😢

We ended up with 31# of burger and the backstraps were 6#.

Well of course I love your hair cut, Miki. Mine is similar except it just touches my shoulders. I wanted it as short as yours but the cutter was cautious.

It's so easy to take care of. I usually just use the hair dryer on it. Sometimes I let it air dry. If I want to go fancy, I use one of those big curling irons on it for some extra body.

I hope you know how stinkin' cute you are! :bouquet:

TMC, I haven't brushed mine since Thanksgiving either. I'm sure there is a big nest in the back. I just keep pushing it down. No one sees it so whatever. Perks of living alone.  :008Laughing:

@Jeepers I just heard yesterday that Trump plans on getting rid of the bi-annual time changes! Maybe that will help with your sleep patterns??? Well, at least your confusion when you wake up from one of your "naps."

@The WE2's I wonder if putting a humidifier on the same shelf as my CPAP would give me the humidity I need without having to use the humidifier in the machine? I don't use it because I haven't been able to get the correct level without feeling like I'm being "water boarded" while I sleep! I also have this gel that you might want him to try - it's called Ayr Saline Nasal Gel
