The WE2's
Cold (about 30), sunny and a little breezy. The sun is melting some of the surface snow etc., so it will re-freeze tonight (temp to be in the minus temp) and will get snowed on again tonight. Again, we've got all our business taken care of, and are HUNKERED DOWN! 3 Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
And for those of us weather watchers......it's officially La Nina. But it's not strong and may flip back to El Nino....???? https://www.yahoo.com/news/la-ni-arrived-means-us-140042884.html MtRider .... Big affects on our weather patterns.. 2 Quote Link to comment
themartianchick
We are currently seeking some heat and planning our next trip to Florida. It can't come soon enough for me. 2 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
Right now, it is 33* and the wind chill is 23*. They keep changing the forecast for snow here. One time it will be 3 to 5 inches, then 1.9* and now they are saying we might not get more than a dusting. Guess I will believe it when I see it. My DD was planning to come in this weekend but decided to wait till next week. She might get more snow than we will here. I think that might be a good idea to wait. She's having DGD withdrawal syndrome. Yes, I am mean. I keep sending her pictures of funny things the baby is doing. DGD left out a musical Grinch toy out because the baby loves it. It sings the Grinch song, and she dances to it. That child loves that Grinch toy. 1 2 Quote Link to comment
Necie
Got up to 30* today and SUNNY!! 🌞 They’re still showing upper 20’s for highs until the middle of next week. Polar vortex??? Where? Our local news has gone completely silent on it. We’re *supposed* to get 1-3” of snow tomorrow.... I’ll believe it when I see it!! 4 Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
We've been snowing all day - not hard...4-5" I'd say. Parked truck down below in case snowplow guy comes. We're getting deep enough to need it. Still going subzero every night. Nothing new in that....it IS January. MtRider ...thankful to have a furnace, pellet stove both working! 2 Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Got more wet snow, about an inch or so. Maple tree out front looks like people were slinging snow balls at it...the trunk looks like it! The limbs have their share of "whatever". So far, no limbs have come down. Temp is about 34 and the sun is shining...but that only means bad news when it re-freezes tonight. 3 Quote Link to comment
themartianchick
We have sunny weather and the temperature is now 27 degrees. Ice fell off of our roof and took out the internet cable. Took out is probably the wrong term. It is still connected but is now dragging in the driveway. Spectrum says that they will be here within the hour to put it back up where it belongs. Considering that it fell about a half hour ago, that is a pretty good response time! 3 2 Quote Link to comment

Littlesister
Temps this morning was 38* and then started dropping. It is now around 33*. They are still saying snow. So, will find out when it actually happens. Went to both banks this morning. Then to Lidle's. They had ladies heavy cotton slacks on sale, so I bought a couple of pair. They are nice and warm ones. The store was packed with people but not as bad as I have seen. I walked around and looked and there was no chicken at all in the meat cases and very little beef. Don't know what is going on. Though I was not buying anything food wise it was interesting to see why the chicken was totally wiped out. They did have eggs. But I didn't look at any prices. I probably should have. Then I stopped and filled the gas tank. And then to Food Lion out of curiosity. it was totally packed in there. Parking lot was overflowing. Very little meat. Some eggs, but not a lot. Can goods was full. Produce as usual, looked half rotten. Ok I took care of my curiosity and came home. People are panic buying, and this was going on last week also. It's sometimes fun to walk through a store when you know you don't need anything just to watch the action. Looked like Thanksgiving and Christmas put together in the Food Lion. 3 Quote Link to comment

Littlesister
They finally figured out we are getting 4 inches of snow tonight here in Suffolk. The city of Suffolk called with all the closings which they do when we are about to have weather that closes things down. Portsmouth where my DGD lives is getting 3 inches. There are different amounts in different cities. I am a bit further inland so a bit more snow for us. They said it will come down fast. It is tonight through Saturday morning and then a lot of sunshine and warmer temps. So should hopefully melt within the next couple of days. Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
It's 24 tonight. I think we got about an inch of snow today. Maybe 2. No big deal. I didn't go any place today so I'm not really sure. My driveway and walkway are covered but it isn't deep. It's supposed to get really cold starting Sunday. 1 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
We got the 4 inches they said we would get. But the roads and my front walkway no longer have much snow. It will be icy tonight. Right now, it is 35* Temps are supposed to go up to 41* later today and dropping down to about 25* tonight. We will have an icy situation tomorrow morning. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Necie
We ended up with a good 4” of snow yesterday. It only got down to about 26 last night. 28 when I got up. Supposed to stay there all day. If the sun would come out, maybe it could get above freezing and some would melt????.... Supposed to be cloudy all day though. But a girl can hope... 🤷♀️ 2 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
Necie, I just hope it is gone by Monday or at least the ice as they don't salt or sand the neighborhoods or the secondary roads here. I have to go to my DGD's house on Monday to babysit. 1 Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
Today was about 35 so a lot of the snow etc., was melting so everything is slushy and slick. The city put out a notice on FB that most of their equipment was disabled and/or was getting stuck...so that's why we aren't seeing any of the city roads cleared. Only the major state routes are cleared. We did go to $Tree and bought all the organic dog food they had Gotta make sure our girl has plenty of chow! Also went to the health store and bought another bottle of CBD (boy is that stuff expensive..$140 a pop) for our girl. She is doing really good. Couldn't find any more of the Salmon oil that we bought there a couple of weeks ago, glad we bought 2. We'll keep an eye out for more. When we came home, we actually got stuck trying to back into our drive (which we do in this weather) and was VERY surprised to learn we had rear wheel drive! Didn't know that! This car has all the bells and whistles...sometimes it really scary! But anyway, hubby shoveled some of the drive entry, and then a bit behind the back wheels, and then right back where our GeekMobil is supposed to be parked...that her name according to some of the letters of her license plate! 4 Quote Link to comment
Littlesister
The snow is about gone except in shady areas. The roads in my neighborhood are dry except in shady areas but no longer ice. It is 36* right now and going up to 40*. So that should hopefully melt more of the ice in the shady areas. My DGGD got to go outside and play in the snow yesterday. My DGD sent me pictures of her and the first ones she had a look on her face like what is this and not sure of it. But the next pictures she was laughing and smiling having a good time. They made her a chair out of snow and straw. She was sitting in it and grinning ear to ear. We are going to have a heatwave tomorrow. It's going to get up to 48* I can handle that. 2 Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
37 and sunny, the high is to be 38 so it's as warm as it's going to get. It is melting some of the snow and slush off the road in front of us, but it will take quite some time before our driveway clears out more. It's got the 2 in. of ice and 6+ inches of snow to melt off. The steps and sidewalk to the car is clear and safe to walk on. Abby-girl is outside tromping through the snow, sticking her nose down in it to see what she can find! 4 Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
We got up to 30° here today. That's the warmest it's been in quite a while. We're supposed to get light snow tonight. Our weather has been crazy this winter. Hardly any snow. The lows Monday and Tuesday are supposed to be in the single digits with a high on Friday at 42° 2 Quote Link to comment
themartianchick
It is 34 degrees right now. I went out earlier to shovel the inch or so that fell overnight because I was expecting a delivery. It was only about 30 degrees, then. The sun came out about a half hour ago and melted most of the remaining shovel streaks on the driveway. I was hoping that would happen. I think that we have about 7 or 8 inches left on the unshoveled parts of the yard at dad's house. We aren't supposed to get any snow today, so I'm certain that some will fall. 4 Quote Link to comment
Jeepers
Good idea shoveling off the walkway when it melts. I'll try to remember to do that tomorrow before we get another deep freeze Monday night. I need to get some furnace vents ordered and want a clear path for delivery. 3 Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
We're hitting subzero most nights. Not real warm in daytime...despite sunshine. But hearing daily from a MN friend, she doesn't get the subzero nights but we are much higher than her daytime temps, for sure. Unless it's cloudy...and snowing.... MtRider ...winter....ice....snow....snowplow $$.... 1 2 Quote Link to comment
The WE2's
About 45 or so and sunny, so a lot of the snow is melting. Hubby is outside shoveling away some of it so it doesn't re-freeze tonight. 3 Quote Link to comment
themartianchick
We were around 34 degrees, I think. There was some snow, but it didn't stick. The wind gusts have been wicked, but there was some sunshine. We are under a storm watch for tomorrow with the possibility of 6 inches. I'm at home today because I have a couple of in-person meetings this week. I'm not looking forward to another storm. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
