Cleveland is getting hammered with lake effect snow.

I was thinking about you, Jeepers, when I looked at the lake effect pounding everyone over there.  Thinking:  I'll bet Jeepers is SO glad she's not in OH right about now!

However....TheMartianChick ?  Is that mess hitting you all?  :frozen:

Good morning,

It is about 10 degrees here at the house and it is 12 degrees in town.       We have about 3 inches of snow.        Of course, this is something we expect.      But, I think it is a bit colder this year than it was last year at this time.         Oh, we have a few fluffy flakes coming down right now.

I think we are supposed to get up to 42* today.  I was thinking about the past few years, and I remember having to open windows and doors to cool the house down a bit because it was so hot outside. I think it is much colder this time of year than it usually is for this time of year. Might be why I am having a hard time adjusting to the cold more.

It's 21° here today but I didn't go out. I wanted to pick up a couple of things at the grocery store but just didn't want to go. And I have another grocery bag of paper/cardboard to recycle too. Tomorrow.

I have a grand experiment to try when I go in town. Instead of one large pumpkin spice latte at Dunkin, I'm going to get 2 medium ones. I think they will last longer. Instead of sipping on one large for 3 days, I can sip on 2 medium for 4 days. Those darn things are expensive. And about like crack cocaine.

Considering I have no experience with pumpkin spice latte this is probably a dumb question.  I’m guessing this is a seasonal thing and not year around, can it be frozen to stock up?  I’m sure it has whipped cream and etc but whipped cream might freeze okay.  Might be tasty that way even.  Or keep whipped cream on hand to have on them, like canned whipped cream?

I used to do that with pumpkin pie blizzards from Dairy Queen but of course they were ice cream, not coffee.  I now make my own pumpkin pie blizzard so I don’t have to pay the high cost and they are just as good plus gluten free. How is your latte made?

It's kind of like a vanilla coffee made with milk and with pumpkin pie spice mix. Topped with big shot of whipped cream and some more pumpkin pie spice sprinkled on top for looks. It's sweet and creamy and pumpkin spicy. You can get it iced or hot. I always get the iced. It's seasonal starting in October. I'm not sure when it ends. Each Dunkin is different and they decide when to offer them. I suppose they could be frozen. You can order them without the whipped cream. My freezer space is pretty limited right now though.

I have some Starbucks pumpkin spice pods but I haven't tried them yet. I'm sure it's not the same. Probably just coffee that smells good.

Dunkin for a pumpkin spice latte?  :24:

i used to get a hot Macchiato at McDonalds that was good too. I don't know if they still make them or not?

I really need to figure out how to work my coffee maker. One side makes a pot full and the other side makes a cup from a K-cup. I bought a bunch of the K-cups when Bed, Bath and Beyond went out of business. They always had the best selection of coffee and tea pods.

Bed, Bath and Beyond, Borders Books, Service Merchandise, Circuit City, Comp USA, Toys R Us, K-Mart..:sigh:

Jeepers, there should be a button that says, carafe and next to that single. Just push the button for the one you want to do.  My make is a Hamilton beach.

Yes, we have lost a lot of the good stores. And nothing to replace them.

I just looked at my coffee maker. It's a Hamilton Beach too!  LOL.  It says Hamilton Beach Flex Brew. I'll have to check it out this week. I'm not a big coffee drinker but I do like a cup now and then. Especially when it's this cold out. I have some hot chocolate and some spiced tea K-cups I can use with it too.

Jeepers, that is exactly what I have. The Flex Brew. I love mine.

It is 42* out today but feels like 36*. Wind was blowing a bit earlier but has died down some now. I wanted to put air in my tires, but I walked out and turned around and walked back in house. Can't take that type of cold. I'm not going anywhere today so tires can wait.

It's 26 here this afternoon. Supposed to get down in the 20's tonight. Wednesday and Thursday night it's supposed to get down around 10° with the winds kicking up. Ugh. It's gonna be cold and blustery.

But on Sunday and Monday it's supposed to warm up to almost 50° with rain. Better than snow. I don't have to shovel rain. Gonna be a regular heat wave. Hopefully I can take advantage of it and clear out the stuff in the house garage that will get damaged if it gets wet. It's too cold out there now. I feel like I'm being given one more chance at it.

WE2, sounds like you are like me when it comes to coffee. Now with the wood stove back in use I put a pot on there to keep it warm throughout the day and have it off and on all day. But I must have that first cup when I get up in the morning, be it summer or winter. It wakes me up and gets me going.

I don't think it got up to 48* today like they said. It was extremely cold today. With wind gust that did finally die down to a point. It is going to get much colder before the weekend gets here. It really does feel like snow, but we are not in that forecast for it.

Mt. Rider, I think your mom and brother might get some snow in and around the DC area tonight but don't think it will be much.

Well, first time in over a week, I stepped out the door today. Brrr 🥶 It really wasn’t *that* cold— 36*, but THE WIND!! Cuts right through.

Arctic blast headed this way. Which means that the lake effect machine is back ON. Forecast is all over the place... of course. Nobody knows where those bands will land. Anywhere from 0-8” of snow. It will be COLD and it will be WINDY. Temps in the 20s with windchills in the low single digits— could be positives or negatives.

Wood stove going full blast and I’ll be hiding under my blankies if anybody needs me.

I kept hearing something and asked son if it was windy at his house. I guess everyone knew it was windy outside except for me. I checked the temp here online and it's 24° and with the wind it feels like... -5.  :o

Necie, I'm in a snow belt too. We never know what's going to happen. One little shift in the wind and we can suddenly become buried.

I must be becoming acclimated because I was out today and didn't notice how cold it was.

Yep, it is really cold out. We don't normally have it this cold before Christmas, but we are getting our butts kicked with this cold weather. I need to bring up more firewood to the house soon. I have a feeling my wood stove is going to get a good work out this winter. We have had some wind and what we have will cut right through you. But no mention of snow for my area yet. They are saying from this side of Washington DC up past the Richmond area. And the wind will be bad.

We're in usual winter weather:  Sunny --- nice and warm in the sun despite snow drifts.  Lots of "solar gain"!!  :cheer:  We've been bouncing from Sunshine Sixty Degrees during the day..... But at night...plunges down low.    We've been Minus 15* just a couple times.  Mostly in teens or single digits.  :frozen:

And then back up again during the day.  Typical Mt Colorado.

I'll take warm any way I can get it!
