WHAT'S THE WEATHER IN YOUR AREA? How are you preparing for a daily chore of staying warm?

The WE2's

Recommended Posts

Very warm days.....sunny and a theoretical 60* in the sun on 2nd story porch above the snow... How's that for qualifiers.   But it is wonderful.  Weekend will be too.

However, Monday - cloudy and snow.   the day the guys come back with the part to fix our furnace.   At least they didn't want to "tag it".  That's how we got this one.  Tagged means Not Safe and I Won't Turn It On.  Those are the times when we appreciate being renters!  Just call J!

But riding M tomorrow will be gorgeous!  :)

MtRider  .....need a horse ride; missed last week!

Mt. Rider, you definitely don't want a furnace to be tagged. My DH had to do that quite a few times over the years when he was working at the natural gas plant. Yep, red tag you are down till fixed or replaced.

Woke up to 28* early this morning and then it made it to 32 right when I sat down at the computer.  Now it is 37* so temps are climbing. It will get up to 45* today and then start dropping. We will have a warmup for Sunday at 60* and then by Friday it goes back down into the mid 40's again. With nights into the 20's.

They are saying that our several years of not having snow may come to an end. I hope we don't get it. But if we do, I will be ready. I have everything I need for cold weather anyway. As soon as we have that warmup. I am going to bring a lot of wood up to the house. I have it at the fence line in back of house. But having some at the back door would be much better.

Hope the furnace will be fixed once and for all on Monday. At least the temps warmed up a little for you. At least.  Hope your ride is a productive ride!  🐴

It's nearly 40 degrees here today. Woo-hoo. It's really overcast so it looks colder. But I'll take it.

DGS has the flu. Both ends. So I guess I'm staying home for the weekend. No problem for me. Plenty to do around here.

Poor DGS is not having a good week!!    Hope it's not shared around the classroom or family!

Great ride - sunny, no wind and just the regular guide-gal and I.  Chatting the whole ride.

Came home to warm house...chilly in the corners.  LOL  But we're fine.

Tonite, I watched the opening of Notre Dame.  Amazing building for when it was built!  Amazing restoration now!  All the archways cuz they couldn't do a span with stone/wood/mortar.  Acoustics are phenomenal.  ( I did fast-forward a lot cuz I don't speak French or Latin.

MtRider  Warm tomorrow then  :frozen:  Temp drops and snow.

We are having a warmup today.  It's 65* today. And my yardman left 14 huge bags of leaves next to my raised bed boxes this morning. :hapydancsmil: So I went outside and put 3 bags in each box. I have 5 of them so that was perfect. He chose a great day to drop them off.

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood..."  🎶

I can't believe it's 55° here. Supposed to rain tonight but be as warm tomorrow.

Wednesday night it's going down to 5° or so they say. I'm going to go get a heater this week. Just in case. Won't do a lot of good if the electricity goes out though. Betcha I get a generator next year. But other than that, I think I'm as ready as I can be. I might have to put plastic on the windows but I have the stuff already here if I need it. I'm going to add another kit for the front door. I only use it when I have packages delivered and I can go through the garage for those. I won't have many after Christmas shopping anyway.

I am looking at the weather forecast now. They are saying 61* but rain by 9am. So might not be able to get the garden soil in the boxes tomorrow. But 9am is a 20% chance. Then it goes up to 50% by 10am.  It will be in the 40's early in the morning but might try to get the garden soil in the boxes early anyway.  I will just play that by ear to see how things go.

This morning it was 30 degrees here at the  house and in town it was 33 according to Alexa.       We are getting wind and snow.

Yesterday, it was misting around 7:30 A.M.    Then turned to snow.     The roads were not the best by any means.      I wasn't out on them but there were a lot of people missing from church.      I hadn't planned to go as once again I had been at the dr. and got medication.       I am really praying this goes away by Thursday as we have a Craft Fair about 50+ miles away from us on Saturday.

Nancy had planned to go to church until the weather happened and then also she scalded her hand.      We got it taken care of right away and when she took the bandage off in the evening, it hadn't blistered.     While I was putting the salve on I was praying that it wouldn't blister.      God answered my prayer.

It rained on my parade.  Only got 5 bags of soil in one raised bed.  The other six are 40lb bags and I couldn't lift them, so neighbor is going to help me on the next warmer day with no rain. It's getting up into the high 40's to low 50's today with rain off and on.

I'll be sure and send all this big snow we're getting right now, on over eastward to ya, WE2s!  When this started, it really came down thick and fast.  Still coming down but we got about 5" in 45 min.  Poor guy working on our furnace.  Of course it wasn't JUST the valve to release the propane into the furnace.  He's been up and down our driveway, from his truck and the furnace up here - down the propane tank down in the barnyard.  Hope there isn't a break in the line somewhere....    HOW would they handle that when we've gotten all this snow this year and ground is frozen.  Oye.  Nuthin' ever simple here.

OW....glad the burn responded to quick treatment and prayer, Snowmom!

@Snowmom OUCH!  I'm sorry your DD burned her hand. I hate burns. The pain lasts so long. Glad it didn't blister though. :hug3:

@Mt_Rider. Hope that furnace issue is a quick-er fix. Furnaces never seem to break down in the summer do they. :grinning-smiley-044:   Just a reminder to have the furnace checked out around September on my yearly to-do calendar planner thingy.

Today was beautiful again with temps around 55. Thursday's high will be around 15.

Ditto!! :grinning-smiley-044:

I actually LEFT the house today and went shopping. I thought it was supposed to rain today, but there was just a bit of mist this morning and then it cleared and was just cloudy and windy. DH said it rained overnight... that the driveway was full of water EARLY this morning. I guess rain after midnight is today... lol

Snowmom, I hope your DD's hand heals fast.  Glad it didn't blister. I've been down that road before.

Mt. Rider, I was hoping they would have your furnace fixed this morning. Hope they get it fixed soon. Looking for a break in a line is not easy.

I think we are supposed to have another warmup and then back to the deep freeze again. But so far nothing about snow. But I think more rain in the forecast.

A couple of things I have learned in my lifetime...have a baggie full of flour...stick your hand in it for a bit, and give it a shake.  Then...apply some anti-itch cream.  Really works for me.

Today is another fairly nice day.  A bit chilly because of the wind, but the sun is out.  Hubby's out running errand (paying bills) and then to the library to refresh his reading.  He is an absolute reading junky!  When he gets home he'll be changing out our smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and the O2? detector.  We have a "fire blanket" near the kitchen stove if we need it, but the extinguishers will get us out of the bedroom to the front door.

Today is warm. 65* and raining cats and dogs. The wind is blowing like crazy, and the rain is coming down in buckets. We need the rain, but can't it come down on a day that is not so warm. I really had things to do outside but it's not going to get done this month I don't think. The weather for the next few days will be in the low 40's. I think there will be more rain coming this week also.

On the weather it said we may have a cyclone and something else. All I can do is wait and see what happens.  Maybe some snow as well but seeing is believing on that one. Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow like it did today. And it's not over yet. I want to finish my running around tomorrow.  My DD and DSIL will be down this weekend. All us girls are going out shopping. I think my shopping is finished but I can window shop. All gifts are accounted for. No one missing on my list. Yep, I checked it twice. All is good.

Cold, snowing, and blowing today. Lows tonight and tomorrow are single digits and high tomorrow is in the teens. Planning roasted chicken for dinner tomorrow to help warm up the kitchen. 😉😋
