  1. Well, the wind is only about 20 mph today, so I think I can safely hang out his clothes without having to go chase them down all over the yard! I have hung out clothes in the winter and have them freeze on the line! stiff as a board! Wasn't funny at the time !

  2. My plan for today was to wash DH's hunting clothes and hang them out, but we had storms last night, and the wind is blowing about 40 mph today and the temp has dropped into the lower 40's (this is cold for me!). So I figured there's no way the clothes will stay on the line today. I will wash the coveralls and hang them on a hanger inside the washroom and hopefully I can wash and hang out the rest tomorrow.

  3. For a soap mold, could you use a muffin pan lined with saran wrap or some plastic wrap to make it easier to get out? Would that work or do you really need maybe something plastic ?

  4. My peach tree is loaded with small peaches, but I have noticed that the leaves are starting to curl up... this happened last year and all the fruit ended up rotting on the tree. What is causing this and what is a good cure for this?

  5. Here are the direction for canning chicken, from the Ball Blue Book - steam or boil chicken until about 2/3 done. Remove skin and bones. PAck hot chicken into sterlized, hot jars, leaving 1 inch headspace. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt to each pint, 1 teaspoon to each quart, if desired. Ladel hot cooking liquid, water or chicken broth over chicken, leaving 1 inch headspace. Remove air bubbles. Adjust two-piece caps. Process pints 1 hr and 15 min, quarts 1 hr and 30 min, at 10 pounds pressure in a steam-pressure canner.

There are instructions for raw pack and hot pack with bones, but this is the one I use. Good luck !

  6. Thie weekend I paid $3.35 for a gal of 2% milk !!! It jumped 75 cents in a week..... Gas was $1.79/gal. My DH was at an auction this weekend, and 1 week old baby calves were going for $250 each ! This is crazy !

  7. We are also looking into getting a couple of Anatolians to guard our growing goat herd. From what I can tell, if you have other pet dogs, the Anatolian will become accustomed to what dogs "belong" on the property and will run off the dogs/coyotes that "don't" belong. We are also looking into getting electric/solar fencing. Elec fence might help keep your chickens safe from bears, and might be worth the cost in the long run.
