Started using my new dehydrator; mushrooms are done, I'm pleased with how they turned out. Mixed veg now in there, apple slices next.

Thankyou everyone on a very wet and windy Scottish night -
I've always hankered after a wood stove for cooking. Nearest I got was an old 1970s Rayburn which was run mainly on coal, but I used wood sometimes. It was in the house when we bought it, we converted it from oil back to solid fuel - it was the reason we bought the house really. I made peace with it quickly, and loved it to bits; it was on 24/7 all year round, did all my cooking, bottling (canning), brewing, baking on it, it heated the house and all the hot water; had a Kitchen Maid drying rack over it for laundry and drying dyed wool, herbs etc. I loved that thing with all my heart, even though the temperature gauge never worked in the whole 17 years I used it. I just stuck my hand in the oven to see how hot it was lol
I love your pictures

Finally managed to get back here - the first survival/prepping forum I joined way back when! I did re-join some years ago, but life got in the way again, now I'm here. I was Lowlander back then, married, two children, living in England. Now I'm divorced, children are adults with their own lives (very different to mine), I'm back living in Scotland, a couple of serious illnesses, two breakdowns, an emergency hernia op and two house moves, here I am Lol
My prepping has come on in leaps and bounds; I now have a newish prepping blog, a new forum of my own, a book underway and a cupboard full of dried noodles lol
Looking forward to joining in and contributing from across the ocean - we here in Scotland, and the UK, have our own unique set of problems, so maybe I'll be able to show a different side of life.
I've become a lot more feisty in the interim so be prepared for that, but I promise to behave myself

What are you dehydrating today?

Will be dehydrating with skins on, they're thin skinned eating apples.
BTW, I'm not new to dehydrating, just this machine. I used to have a large one, but it was sold and this small compact one suits me much better now.
