  1. I like stocking up on non-perishables at Sam's, but the fresh stuff, I haven't had much luck with (esp. the produce, I've been tempted to use their refund option, but by the time we're back up that area, it'd be well beyond spoiled by then).

  2. We splurged on a fresh, organic turkey from one of the poultry farms in the area ... we bought it on the 23rd of December, and I didn't feel up to cooking it, so it has been in the bottom, back of the refrigerator since then.

I was going to make it today, but then read on the poultry farm's suggestion that since it's fresh, you cook it within 3 days of picking it up.

It's been about 7 days since we picked it up -- is it still safe to bake and eat?

(I am hoping yes, because it was a smidge over $45 for the 15 pound turkey .... but then again I don't want to get my family sick over $45 ....)

  3. We are all here for the long haul. Whatever you decide will be fine. Those who could send help, trust you to do whatever it takes to keep us going whether through money or prayers or both. I'm just thankful we all have someplace to come to regardless of how it looks.

    My thoughts too :)

I'll be mailing my contribution out today. Mrs. S has beena huge blessing to me, both with the info, and the wonderful people I've met here.

  4. So glad you got what you went in for, Jeepers :) Sorry for the hassle they gave you though. Good too that they didnt' try to stick you with a non-member up-charge, like Sam's does for non-members. (I read they waive the upcharge fee at certain times during promotions to recruit new members).

Dh used to get a free Sam's membership from work every year (if you didn't want the membership, you could redeem the certificate for cash, which was tempting ...) New company took over, and now they don't do that, so after not having a membership for a couple years, we caved and bought this year. I don't know if we'll re-new, we don't seem to be saving much, and I noticed with the fresh stuff, there seems to be more waste because the three of us can't use it all in time.

  5. (((hazelstone))) that's rotten of him to have done to you, some people just have no decency.

I'm surprised that the boss didn't say something to him, at least in private, about what he said, in addition to it being rude and hurtful, in this litigation world we're in, all it would take is one sexual harassment report and then it may come back to bite them both.

  6. Those classes sound good, OOTO, and the timing too, so your husband doesn't have to rush.

Kind of chilly on our side of the state, it was warm yesterday though. Rainy, and dark. good napping weather :)

We're not doing anything Halloween related. Before we moved here, my son liked giving candy out, but where we live now, eh, no we're not doing that. better keeping the door closed, esp. at night. Plus on this highway we'd literally be opening to the door to just anyone.

Today has been some cleaning and laundry. Feeling more brain fog today and a bit dizzy, so I had to have ds help me with the cleaning, I took the kitchen, and he the bathroom (well part of it). I just had to go over it quick when he was done, it was a big help not having to get up and down as much. Granted we have a teeny tiny bathroom, but still.

I've got one load of laundry washed, and in dryer. My goal this weekend is to get the Fall/Winter clothes pulled out and washed. It's that weird time of year where we end up needing more clothes out because you never know if it's going to be warmer/colder.
