Guest Guest
3 men go into a motel. The desk clerk said the room was $30, so each man paid $10 and went to the room. A while later, the desk clerk realized the room was only $25, so he sent the bellboy to the 3 guys' room with $5. On the way, the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split $5 evenly between 3 men, so he gave each man $1 and kept the other $2 for himself. This meant that the 3 men each paid $9 for the room, which is a total of $27. Add to that the $2 the bellboy kept and the total is $29. Where is the other dollar? Hill Quote Link to comment

Guest Guest
Well, this one goes back a looong way! the trick is in the way the story is told...the fact remains that: The guys eventually paid $25 for the room instead of $30 so the $5 left was split $1 for each of the guys and $2 went to the pocket of the crooked bellhop.....instead of adding the $2 to the $27 paid by the guys we really should have been subtracting it from the $27 which would = the $25 that they paid to the hotel. Think of the 30 individual bucks....# 1-25 went to the hotel # 26,27,28 went to the guys, and # 29 and 30 went to the crooked bellhop! All accounted for! Quote Link to comment
