Amishway Homesteaders Posted October 31, 2011 Share Posted October 31, 2011 Here is wishing Everyone a very HAPPY HALLOWEEN! We were SNOWED IN yesterday EVEN when the snow never came? See, I had planned a day of eating snacks, eating homemade chili, watching a old movie (w/ popcorn), doing crafts and just staying in and 'hunkering' down. THEN the storm never got here! BUT That didn't stop US! we just did all the things we had planed (except the snow walk) and had a very fun and relaxing day. Today we are celebrating the day by eating "hollow-weenies" (and leftover chili) for Dinner. And Ghoooooooooul-losh for Supper! Two foods my Mom used to serve us kids when we were little! Amishway Homesteaders Posted October 31, 2011 Author Share Posted October 31, 2011 IF you have kids (or one like Michael) you can make the "Hollow-weenies" for them! Just take hot dogs and before you cook them you take a drinking straw and 'push' it though the sides to make 'holes'. there will be a bit of hotdog 'stuck' inside the straw but just keep pushing it though all along the hot dog until it fills up with 'dog' inside then start with another straw (or suck it out like Michael). If you are brave you can also 'push' it down longways - but that is a bit harder. Then cook your "Hollow-weenies" and have some FUN! we would always 'fill' the holes with ketchup so they 'oooooozed' blood before eating- LOL Link to comment
