Guest Guest
With the recent holidays, I can't help but to think of our Troops abroad, and being a Veteran myself, I know what it feels like to be far away from home over the holidays, and it's not a good feeling. Here's some Links from the "ngwrc" with news updates: 1.): "Pentagon Limits Funeral Coverage; Arlington to Keep Reporters Away." http://www.ngwrc.org/article.asp?id=233 2.): "Operation Military Pride Supports Deployed Troops" (* I really like this article- reminds me of the "care packages" I used to get in the Army from home- these "care packages" from home are so important to troops far from home!) http://www.ngwrc.org/article.asp?id=234 3.): "Doctoring Orders" (About "Anthrax" Vaccines) http://www.ngwrc.org/article.asp?id=236 Hill Quote Link to comment
Guest Guest
I've just had time to read the links. I can see both sides of the issue of limiting coverage of funerals. Family's should be entitled to their privacy, and it's difficult to know when that line has been crossed. I still wish we could send packages to "any soldier" but since the Pentagon has asked us not to, and any sent that way would be destroyed, it's nice to see OMP such a success. I'm sure donations to them would be welcome. We are flying later this month, and we signed up for the frequent flyer miles plan even though we never fly often enough to earn a ticket. We will donate, upon return, our collective miles. We got 10,000 miles just for signing up, and will be able to donate our miles upon return from our trip. I hope it will be enough to help a soldier get home on leave. Quote Link to comment
