Wheeler
Figuring Birth Dates using the 8870 formula... Sometimes you’ll find a tombstone inscription with a death date and the years, months and days of the persons’ age. Example: Suppose the person died May 6, 1889, at the age of 71 years, 7 months, 9 days. The following formula will give you the birth date... 1. Write the year, month, day as: 18890506 2. Subtract the age at death: - 710709 3. This gives the figure: 18179797 4. Now subtract your 8870 (above) - 8870 5. The result is a birth date of: 18170927 The first 4 numbers would be the year, the next 2 would be the month, the next two would be the day... Year 1817, 9th month (Sept.), 27th day or 27 Sep 1817. I can't get the numbers to line up right!! Quote Link to comment
