I just got back from the doctor, and it was not fun. After asking the usual questions he had me lean forward, (I was in a wheelchair) he touched my back and I screamed. He said "that is touchy isn't it." He asked me if I could walk and I said yes. I slowly got up and took two steps and fell to the floor.

The Doctor grabed me and I had to tell him to turn me loose. I have found that when someone tries to help me when I fall, it onlys causes more pain becasue they are pulling on me in a twist. It took me awhile to get up and get back to the wheelchair.

The doc suggested I get another MRI to see what's going on. I told him it will show two herniated disk just like before and that there is nothing that can be done for it. He agreed, but said it would be good to make sure. So...I wait until I can get an appointment with a neurosurgeon and go from there. My concern is that this is getting more frequent and that there will come a time when I won't be able to walk. Time will tell.

I will one way or another get my garden out this year, even if I have to crawl in the dirt to do it. Of course the wife won't like washing dirt/muddy jeans. :D

Wormie, what about traction & eventually the back exercises to reduce the disc herniation? Also there WAS a treatment using papaya extract to dissolve the offending portion of the disc that was in use back in the 80's when my Mom blew a disc in her back. She was successfully treated by traction/exercises though. Have you seen a GOOD physical therapist for your back yet? Some of them can work wonders!

I've had traction before at home and in the hospital, didn't help. To be honest about PT, I know it is has to be done on a regular basis, and I have been through that, but again only short term relief. The last MRI I had showed the disc are deteriorting slowly going up my back. When I tore my calf muscle last year I asked the therapist to show me some exercises for my back and none of them were different than the ones I had done before. :(

I try to keep positive Ginger, it is hard sometimes tho. I have a saying, "I don't look back because that is the past, I look forward because that is where my future is." Thanks for the prayers, I do appreciate them.

Oh John, I had no idea you were struggling with this. I'm so sorry you're in so much pain! How ever did you make the drive to Darlene's this summer? :gathering:

Do take care...I wish I lived closer so I could send a casserole or *something*. :bouquet:

Sending lots of hugs and prayers, instead.
