Hi Lowlander, I've grown Lakota winter squash and it's absolutely wonderful. It is a very long keeper too. One thing I have to say is it takes an axe to open that thing up! It was our first year growing them but we absolutely love them. We grew 10 different types of winter squash this year. All have turned out to be very tasty. I am very pleased.

I have some of these melons in my garage at the moment. We had over 250 of them one year. My mom makes soup with them. i would love to know of some other recipes for them. Does anybody have a recipe for angel hair jam??
