Oops. I didn't think to add places. My family from Mississippi and Louisiana mostly. I know some may have been from Texas, Georgia, or North Carolina also.
Forrest family from Amite, MS... traced back to TN also. Furthest is for Richard Forrest b. 1767, son of Richard C. Forrest.
-
Okay I started looking at mine and now DH wants me to look up his too. Go figure! Here are some names or possible names for his family:
Scott
Martin
Forrest
Beason
Allgood

Some more names that may be linked to my family: Lick?

Oh man. I got excited thinking I was gonna win that one til you said I couldn't bring my crochet hooks. Thats alright you didn't say anything about the needles.
-
Oh I just want to add a link to this. Its for a good goat info site: www.jackmauldin.com

Cool info on the gasoline campy! Okay now I'm just going to be difficult but... store the gas with stabilizer and when ready to use add the pri-g. but how long can the pri-g be stored?
-
hmmm the original here is an old post but i haven't checked this locally. i wonder if there are still issues with this?
-
heck yeah the bigger the aquarium the better! If you aren't going to access it soon. Awesome ideas!
-
Oh my... you might be a survivalist if: You catch your 3 yr old playing with her toy backpack going down a checklist - "paper, light, water, water, water, Okay!"
Oops! Might better think again about stocking and planning BOBs in front of the little ones! That just cracked me up. I didn't think I was that bad.
-
Now Cat I don't think any of us would do THAT!
-
And yet another!
If you go through the grocery store, your pantry or fridge finding items you need to figure out how to make ATSHTF... like yogurt, ketchup, mayo, etc.
-
Oh another:
-You might be a survivalist if you spend all day planning, stocking or organizing you preps, go to sleep dreaming about getting ready, and wake up with yet another prep idea. .... ahem hsmom!
-
These are too funny! I have some more:
-If you desperately try to come up with an excuse to keep a pile of old dry rotting tires that dh wants to toss... one that won't get that LOOK!
-If you can't have more kids but still keep a full supply of baby products and emergency birth kits with instructions just in case.
-You have a 3 stage barrier around your property
-You've stored polypropelene bags to make emergency shelter or a bunker
-You can name more than 10 places to hide money or preps like inside a furniture leg, inside the toilet paper holder, etc.
-If the UPS man visits more than once a week
-If you have more money hide at home than you have in the bank
-You have what you need for more than 3 ways to wash laundry
-You've decide where to move or not to move based on how close it is to FEMA camps, possible nuke sites, etc.
-If you go to more than 2 grocery stores in one trip so the cashier doesn't get suspicious
-If the flea market workers know you by name and call you when they get a "grain mill, washboard, meat grinder, fill in the blank"
-You've printed plans for more than 3 types of solar cookers
-If you're family complains about the kudzu taking over the yard and you can name more than 3 ways to use it
-If you analyze everything dh lists for a possible Christmas gift as "oh yeah I can get him that, thats a prep" "nah he's gotta find something else not worth the money when we need a ...."
Okay now I need to fill in some blanks on this long checklist.
-
oh no the skid mark panties!
-
behind the switchplate of an unused plug in.. there's a small box there for the wire to come in. use it to stuff money in. Roll some old yarn around a ziploc bag of valuables and stick in a basket.. what burglar will take your yarn. inside an old stuffed animal in the kids room. under the carpet.

Can we post links to books for this? I have the links to the "Where There is no Doctor" and other books. There's one called "A Book for Midwives" that would be great for covering the emergency childbirth or are we wanting something a little more to the point?
-
That'll work. I'll check back Mother to see if the list is here and start opening some of the threads for you with some info. Glad to help. This will benefit us all.
-
Mother I can start putting up separate tabs for stuff if you want. Just let me know what areas you want listed. I think its best that we separate them all so we can find the stuff easier. If not this is likely to become a 12 page thread lol!
-
Oh we should include info on making a sick room too for when some get really ill. Safety and defense info: making a barrier around the property if not already there, making weapons, using things for weapons like rocks etc. Making a root cellar, food storage without refrigeration, ways to keep away bugs and critters. Making tools that may be needed. Washing laundry without electricity.
-
Hide tanning info would be good for the leather for moccasins. Need ways to do it primitively too without the chemicals if needed. Also info on butchering of animals and livestock for those that may not know it. Info for animals that you may have for breeding, health, feeding, etc. I have lots of info on goats, rabbits, and chickens for this if you need it.
Medical info for making do with supplies: sanitizing/making bandages, makeshift gurney, etc. Herbs for medical use, info for common illnesses (diabetes, asthma, etc)
Solar oven instructions and cooking, info on what NOT to do for each category too... sanitation and cleaning info things like using baking soda for cleaning, deoderant, etc. making lard, candles without lye, etc.
-
Yes look online too. I've ordered from Walmart before with free site to store shipping. Not sure if they'd do it for a book but its worth trying.

Well I know my husband has one uncle that lives in Iowa right now. I'm not sure if any of the other family has gone there or not.
