  1. Clothes dye cloth traps. Little pieces of cloth you can stick in the machine so your red shirt doesn't stain on your white undies.

Uh what? How about separating coloured and white laundry? New items wash by hand until no dye comes off or wash with black-and-black or red-and-red together?

Tumble dryer cloth that softens the laundry. Newsflash, towels get pretty fluffy in a dryer anyhow.

Anti-static? Just avoid chucking in that fleece sweatshirt and you'll be fine.

Besides, when weather is clement, dry outside.

Really, how hard can it be to pay attention when washing?

  2. C4C, how was your potato crop?

    Homemaker had a decent crop.

As I'm going to set up the hugelkultur method at the retreat, I'm curious to find out if adding layers of straw to the wood will perfect this method.

That way it'd require just a small amount of earth on top.

  3. The green beans shrivelled to next to nothing. Made some ginger syrup yesterday (2,5 liters) and the ginger is rolled in sugar. It's not as dry as I'd like it to be.

So in a moment I'm going to harvest the smal pumpkins here, cook them and dehydrate the puree. One tray will be sugared ginger, the rest pumpkin puree.

  4. Drying tomatos and mashed potatos right now. The house smells great from the tatters.

Found a backpackers site that suggested dehydrating potatos or mash and mixing in a ziplock with other dried veggies, seperate baggie of broth-cube and/or sauce powder. Even a baggie with a big of milkpowder if the need arises. All to do is add water, place i ncosy to keep warm while rehydrating and voila, ready meal.

Could have smacked my head at this one!

We have all those mylar (grades harder than the foil stuff, really sturdy ones) and I've just dehydrated leek or something and sealed them.

Now I'll make ready made dehydrated meals in one pouch that can be sealed and stay well for 10+ years.

Just went to the market at closingtime and scored 5kg of green beans. Part to be dehydrated, part pressure canned.

  5. Purdy, it's caustic soda. What we'd use to unblock a kitchensink that is clogged up wiht fat etc.

Not that it is a good idea to use it for that cos it could form a large fat-ball further down the drains...

  6. Hello Lavenderflowers, welcome to the house of fun.

What are your favorite oils to use?

Ladies, in Germany I found schmaltz in the supermarkets. Not sure from which animal it is but pig is a fair guess.

Could this be used instead of lard to make soap? Lard is so incredibly hard to come by here.

  7. Did the test again, to see if answers would differ if I feel different the next day.

    Still:

    distinctively expressed introvert 67

    moderately expressed intuitive personality 38

    moderately expressed feeling personality 38

    moderately expressed judging personality 56

Few percent down on the judging (yesterday was a day from hell which involved police against a man that threatened me in front of my house so that coloured my answers probably) but still the same type. Stightly more introvert but no surprise there either.

INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress. INFJs may fantasize about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless. The concept of 'poetic justice' is appealing to the INFJ.

Grin PCS, I'm the same type. No surprise there eh?
