  1. My DH and I have been using the envelope system for about 3 months now. It works well for us because we both wait tables and have alot of cash on hand. If anyone has any questions about getting started (more than the article explains) let me know, I'd be happy to help out! Bobbie
  2. it's chain link . . . we just rent this house, so we'll probably just go with the cheapest option, but I hadn't thought of those things that actually go into the fence. Thanks Caveman!!
  3. You're right theyd, they can be quite vicious dogs . . . but my DH and I have spent hours with them playing and loving on them so that they don't want to harm anyone. They don't mind new people at all, which is a good sign, they just don't like strangers who walk right into our house . . . which is also a good thing! We've done everything to them we could think of that a small child might do to a dog (like pull their ears and tails) and they do not react harshly. Ours are just big babies,
  4. So, I just got home from work and what was possibly the worst day of work that I've had there . . . ever!! And I've worked there for a year and a half. I am a waitress at a Ruby Tuesday (mind you, it's the third Ruby's I've worked at because I like the company so much) but the managment in this one is just horrible. I don't know if it due to the fact that it is a college town or what, but our managers are worthless. I had to stay almost 2 hours after my shift was basically over to run food for my fellow "team members" with not even so much as a "thank you" from any of them. all day long . . .
  5. Hill, we used a shock collar to train our American Pit Bull Terrier. It worked great with her. She listens well now, we don't worry about her with other people at all. Most brands of shock collars do let you adjust the voltage, so only the smallest volts are used. The only thing that you might want to think of is that most dogs are trained to a beeping noise when a shock collar is used. It lets them know what the unacceptable behavior is, kinda gives them a warning and then if it continues (say they aren't sitting when you ask) then you would shock them. You may want to do some research on different types of shock collars and see if there is something that may vibrate instead, so that he will know that you want his attention or whatever. Best of luck to you!! Bobbie

did you know that means . . . thank you beautiful?!? (I'm taking German this semester in school!!)
  7. I remembered and set my alarm because I have to go to work at 11:30, but my boss called me at 9:30 to remind me to not be late, but then realized that her clock was still an hour ahead!!
  8. Spider, Hi, I'm Bobbie, I live in the middle of the mitt Michigan too!! And the fact that you are currently enrolled in two colleges makes me wonder if you don't go to CMU or MMCC. I am also in college!! Maybe we could trade school advice. Welcome to Mrs. S. I don't post often but I read alot on the site every day! Glad to have another Michigander joining us!!!
  9. My DH and I are pretty strapped for cash these days and we've been eating the Banquest Crock-pot classics. They are about 5 dollars a bag and we have plenty of left overs for dinner the next day! You have to add water to them, but they are easy and ready when you get home from work. They are a life saver to us!!!
  10. Just an update, we aren't buying the house.
  11. thanks westbrook!! I know God's will is best. I have been trying to be patient!! I'll let you all know!!
  12. Well . . . my DH and I are probably going to be buying our first home in the next couple of weeks!!! We made an offer on a house today about 15 minutes out of town. It sits on 2 acres, so I would have enough room for my dogs to play, and still plant a garden without having to worry about them getting into it. It is a cute little house that needs a lot of love, but I've got a lot of love to give, so I hope that everything turns out well. We are both college students, so we've been renting for the past three years, and we are tired of paying someone else's house payment. And the crazy thing is that we will probably be paying less that what we've paid in rent!! Anyway, I just wanted to share with you all how excited I am!! I'll let you know how things go!!
  13. I just got home from one of my best friends weddings on the beach in South Carolina and had recieved this in an email from a friend. My DH and I ended up spending more money than we should have while we were gone, but I haven't seen my friend in over a year, and we are caught up on bills, so I figure that she means more to me in the long run than a few bucks. This email made me think of you all and how you have blessed my life and have helped me to think of all the things that I shouldn't take for granted. Thank you for holding such a dear place in my heart. Bobbie
  14. My mom and dad live in London, about a half hour from where that earthquake was. My mom said that the elementry school moved a little, but they just thought it was the winds from Ivan until they found out that there had been an earthquake. 3.7 is huge to us folks who have never been around anything higher!!
  15. I don't know if any of you have heard of this baby and her family or not, but if you haven't please add them to your prayer lists. You can find information about their situation at www.scotthousehold.com The baby, Allie, has luekemia and they have stopped all medication except what will make her comfortable and now have only the hope of a miracle. Please pray that God will bless her and her family with many healthy years. Bobbie
  16. I've made the Garlic Rosemary chicken. I think I have that same book. It was excellent!! It was one of my first cooking experiences after I got married so i didn't chop up the garlic very well, so it was a little garlicy, but otherwise most excellent!! I'd make it again! Just wanted to let you all know!!
  17. God Bless you all down there!!! My mom and dad live in South Eastern KY and when I get out of classes today I'm going to call and check on them. I didn't think that the storm was supposed to be there until Thursday, so now I worry that with it's power it may come even further north. I started a "new" job today. It's actually a class that I have at school where I work in the dining commons for credit in the class. Its supposed to teach me all the different aspects of a mass production kitchen. We'll see. I was struggling with the whole situation, it seems like I'm paying the school to do work for them, when I realize the situation could have been way worse, I could have had to work with a man that I had a "conflict of intrest" with. He had a run-in with my boss at my full time job a week ago, and works in one of the dining commons on our campus. God was certainly looking out for me in the whole situation. After classes today I have to go grocery shopping and get my homework done before I have to go to work at 7. I don't know how you guys do it everyday. Being a mom and keeping up with all that you do. You all are amazing role models to me. I hope that I can be a blessing to you all, as you have been to me. My husband and two dogs keep me busy enough as it is!! I hope that everyone has a most wonderful day. Stay safe out there, especially everyone in the South Eastern US. Know that we are keeping you in our prayers. Bobbie
  18. I live in Mount Pleasant, I go to school at CMU. We don't know our exact plans yet, but are hoping to stay in the area after we graduate. I love Michigan. I used to live in Kentucky, but all the snow we get here in the winter makes me happy!
  19. Thanks for the amazingly warm welcome!!! and all the helpful hints. You guys are amazing. I've always wanted to learn to crochet and I saw that website. I can't wait to go buy some supplies and check it out a little closer. Thanks for letting me into the "family."
  20. thanks a ton!! That is what I thought, but I didn't want to go around assuming things . . . cause I know what that makes me!!
  21. Hi, my name is Bobbie. I'm 22 years old . . . seriously. My husband and I have been married for a year this past Aug 16. I attend college and should graduate next May with a BS in business administration (hospitality). I don't have any human kids . . . yet . . . but we do have plans of a few in the future. For the time being I have to wonderful dogs . . . Cannon and Jade. Staffordshire pitbull and American/Rednose pit bull respectively. I also have Sugardaddy, a stray Siamese cat that I adopted when I moved to the great state of Michigan. My granny keeps saying that I should get rid of him because he will "suck the breath out of my babies" but since I moved 11 hours from my family to be with my husband he has been like my "family" when I could reach my mom or sister. Hmmm . . . I think that is about all. I found you guys in a google search when I was looking for Graemlins to use on another forum that I'm associated with, but this looked like too much fun to skip out on. Hopefully I'll be out of the "thinking about it" category soon, cause I'm certainly not thinking about it. I hope to learn many new things from you all and meet some new people and make some new friends. I've seen a few people are from Michigan, and I'm glad to know that you are expecting a lot of snow this year too, because I can't wait to have a winter something like last year. 2 feet of snow is amazing. Anyway, just wanted to say hi to you all!
