  1. Wasn't sure if I should put this here or the Barter section but here goes. For next Christmas I want to give my girls baskets of homemade soaps and lotions plus some for me and a friend. Where is the best/cheapest place to buy them? Thanks

  2. MOMO I am in Alabama also. I'm glad the rain finally eased up. I didn't do a garden last year (since my back surgery bending over is tough) but I got about 1/2 as much dug up this year and since my 3 DGKs are living by me I got them out there today to start planting. They need to learn this stuff, even the 4 year old was working. If they stick with it and see it through this year I hope to show them how to start seeds for next year and expand the garden then.

  3. Been gone for some time now. Life just kind of gets in the way. My oldest DD that had her house damaged in the big tornado here in 2011 had the house burn this last year about 2 weeks before Christmas and beside losing everything they lost 2 fur babies. That was a tough time. The youngest DDs oldest DD had surgery on both knees about 6 weeks ago and shes doing great. They also moved in a house that is around the corner from us (our property lines join) that they will be buying so the 3 DGKs are at my house a lot. I hope to try and get on here more and get caught up on whats happening.

  4. I've been on Celebrex for years and its up to $36 (after our insurance) and I finally got the Dr. to give me a different kind and so far its working and its less then $5 a month. DH got the Dr. to give him a different pill that was $60 for 3 mos. through the mail and now this new med is about $20 for 3 mos. it all makes a big difference.

  5. There is a web site a lady told me about its: dehydrate2store.com. I want to mix my dry carrots, potatoes, onions etc, into serving size portions so all I have to do is pour it into broth, water what ever for soup. I've never done much dehydrating but I'm learning. I've done onions, potatoes, carrots and cabbage besides jerky.

  6. I just made these and they are so good and moist!

    Applesauce Bars

    1/4 cup butter or margarine,softened

    2/3 cup brown sugar

    1 egg

    1 cup applesauce

    1 cup all-purpose flour

    1 tsp. baking soda

    1/2 tsp. salt

    1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9x13 pan.

In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar and egg until smooth. Stir in Applesauce. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice; stir into applesauce mixture until well blended. Spread evenly into prepared pan. Bake 25 mins. or until edges are golden. Cool in pan over a wire rack. Sprinkle powdered sugar onto.

I doubled the recipe and made it thicker like a cake.

  7. This is a cookie recipe from an Amish cookbook. I did not cut them out but just dropped them by the teaspoonful. It doesn't tell how long to bake so you just have to watch them...but they are good!

    Lemon Blossom Sugar Cookies

    3 cups white sugar

    1 1/2 cups oleo (I used butter)

    6 eggs

    pinch of salt

    4Tbs. lemon flavoring

    4 tsp. baking powder

    7 cups all-purpose flour

    yellow food coloring

Cream sugar and oleo, add remaining ingredients. Cut with cutter shaped like a blossom. Take thimble and make a hole in the center of the blossom. Mix some white sugar and yellow food coloring then sprinkle on cookies, before baking. Bake at 250. (Yes the recipe says 250).
