I heard tell somewhere when I was a kid that the reason prohibition happened was really to keep people from making their own biofuel! The oil men wanted to sell their wares to the farmers, and the only way they could ensure a market was to outlaw the large scale production of alcohol by individuals. Just a thought, don't have any facts to back it up .....

I feel awful, but I'm going to have to bow out of helping on this

Well I guess my take is that when it happens it will be SO bad, that it will collapse the entire economy, no one will be paying the mtg and we will be VERY lucky if there is are utilities to pay the bill for! I am hoping that it isn't so bad, but I have a pit in my stomach about it. I am trying very hard to stay calm and rational and not do a lot of panic buying. But I am seriously looking at everything I can do right now. Including pre-paying anything I can as much as I can afford. If we had more time you could pay a bit more than the mtg and gradually get ahead, but you have to be sure when you send in the extra that it is to go to the next payment, not to the principal or they might just apply it to the entire balance and not the next payment.

Quote:I'm up for it!
I just finished reading The Wheel of Time series-fantastic, engrossing fantasy books-the kind that you pick up for a few minutes before bed and then look at the clock "a few minutes later" and it's 2 am! I reread The Stand by Stephen King and am now reading At Mother's REquest, a true crime novel about a Utah murder in the 70s.
Oooh I loved the Wheel of Time series -
Poor Darlene What a nutty duck! LOL

I just started reading the biography of John Adams second president of the United States. I am facinated by early american history. When I was a teen I read a book of letters between John Adams and his wife Abigail that hasd a huge impact on me. She was a really neat lady!

I've had a houseful of company with a close friend visiting with my sweet god daughter. My SIL is here until tomorrow. I finished my gift buying today and now I just have to wrap it all! This past weekend we had our annual gingerbread house decorating party which was a lot of fun. And last night DH took me to pick out my Christmas gift early. A sweet darling 2 1/2 wk old baby beagle puppy! I am so happy She comes home Jan 20th when she's ready to leave her mama.
