Freetobeme
I was just talking to my mom and mentioned the Sambucol stuff for flu. She said she took it last year and still got a really bad case of the flu. She was taking it several times a day and went through about 3 bottles. How effective is this against the flu? Her experience makes me wonder. Link to comment
gardnmom
According to what I've read, Sambucol is a treatment, if you get the flu, not a preventative. They can only suggest treatments at this time, the things that make your immune system stronger so that you are more resistant to flu strains. Even Tamiflu is a preventative, and you still might get it, that's why the step up in dosage if you come down with it. Link to comment
Freetobeme
I looked at it in the store the other day and the impression I got from the label was that you were supposed to take it daily to prevent the flu, too. Link to comment
gardnmom
They may be saying that. Everyone that I have talked to that have used the elderberry for years say they use it for both. Some are going to get the flu regardless, we are just more suseptable, cause of other immunity problems. Like smoking in my case. Link to comment

gardnmom
Some things work better for a person than another. For instance for me St john's wort can be very relaxing, yet a friend of mine had no results and yet Oat straw tea works great for her. Link to comment
