Guest Guest
Apparently, the main ingredient in Tamiflu -- the only known medicine to succesfully fight avian flu -- is an acid found in the pine needles of Christmas trees! They named 3 different types of evergreens but I'm not sure which ones, other than fir... Canada is recycling Christmas trees, extracting this acid, and sending it to the company that makes Tamiflu. Although the news segment was very short, it seems to me they were saying that this will insure enough of the medication to battle this disease. Did anyone else see it? I think I'll try to research it to glean more information. Link to comment
Guest Guest
How can they be sure the trees don't have any poisonous chemicals or fertilisers in them? ~Jo Link to comment
Guest Guest
I saw the same story Nana, shortly after Christmas. Nothing since then. Link to comment
logcabinmama
That is very interesting. Thanks Nana, I didn't see the news about that. Now, just hope the trees last out. Link to comment
