Herbs native to (or compatable with) Alaska????

Was wondering what kind of herbs can be grown in Alaska (Anchorage area).... With the "midnight sun" I could see some being grown in the summers... but how would you keep them during the winter??? (without going to the store and buying more come spring)

I think the biggest problem is light and heat, so a full spectrom light with the potted herbs would let you grow what you want or need, depending on the space available inside. These same plants could be placed out side in summer.
