Guest Guest
A Homesteader's Life Keep your fancy cars And nights out at bars Enjoy the loud music from the bands Neighbors so close you can shake their hands Kids on drugs, drinking and living wild Is this the life you want for your child? A homestead is where I'd rather be One with nature, that's the life for me The soothing sound of a babbling brook Breath taking beauty, come take a look Come hear the sound of the whip-or-will Life in the country, oh what a thrill. At dawn the rooster is crowing You wake in the morning knowing This day is your's and your's alone Here is the place you call home In the cool of the evening you relax The cricket's and frog's songs are sung at last. Squirrels are playing not far from here Why would anyone not want to live here? Way out back in the field The fawns kick up their heels Yonder a chick emerges from an egg Don't you want to join our homestead brigade? You breathe in a breath of pure fresh air a life with little worry or care No hustle and bustle of city life Life with little concern, struggle or strife Bartering takes the place of money Life on the farm can sure be funny. Life in the city Oh what a pity All the stress, pollution and demands Obey the bosses every command No time for the kids, life and your mate Mortgages and bills, this is your fate. A homesteader's life is worth living The values of life you are giving Kids are in 4-H and go to the fair Learning lessons of life because they care Home steading is where it is at You will always find a welcome mat. logcabinmama
Very nice poem. We live in the country, but DH works in town. My niece has written several poems. She has a site with them on. She is in the nursing home now as she had a stroke and is paralyzed on her left side. She has other problems too. Anyway, I will put her site here just in case you would like to read it. http://reflections.www.50megs.com/ Have a good day. ------------------ Quote Link to comment
Goose Liver
Hey snowie, I took a look at Kaye's website, it is beautiful. What wonderful insightful poetry she writes. I only had time to read a few, but what I read was very good. I hope she is doing well, send her our congradulations on her website. Is it new? Or did she make it before her strokes? ------------------ Quote Link to comment
