logcabinmama
Are you or someone you know bothered with Excema? I have what the Dr. says is Winter Excema. It is not fun. This is just a bit of information that you can find on the net. What is Excema? Excema is the most common inflammatory disease of the skin and affects many millions of adults and children world-wide. Excema is a general term for any type of dermatitis or inflammation and itching of the skin; characterized by red, dry scaly skin. Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is the most common and severe form of Excema, so the general term Excema is often specifically applied to Atopic Dermatitis. Who gets Excema and how do you treat it? The exact cause of Excema is not known, but genetic factors are thought to play a role in the development of this disease. Those with Excema often have allergies or asthma, as well. Various materials such as wool can cause a worsening of symptoms. Current therapy is directed at suppressing the inflammation and reducing triggering factors with topical treatments and ultraviolet light therapy.
